QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) 31 straight innings without a run. Time to fire Steverson tonight!!! The whole staff needs to go after this season. -

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:10 PM) Looks like the word's out about Anderson. Don't ever throw it in the zone. Easy K. No point watching this guy hit with 2 strikes- his approach doesn't change at all. He's gona struggle at some point man. I'm not worried about it at all. It's just going to come about now instead of right at first. We'll see what adjustments he makes -

Gota give it to Shields. He's been what we needed after his rough start. -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:06 PM) Yep. Somehow people get the idea that 1st pitch swinging is bad, At times it certainly is. They showed a stat during the All-Star game what some of the All Stars hit on 1st pitches and most were like in the .300's,.400's ,and .500's and one was like .661. Why wait for this guys splitter? -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:04 PM) I respect JB Shuck for always hustling. He does so more than anyone on the team He's not the best player but I really like the guy. Hustle effort and a good 4th OF. -

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) Yes, currently because Anderson and Fulmer have graduated. It was still bottom ten with them wasn't it? Weren't they like 22? -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:26 PM) Except there is a choice. Dont do it. Your better off milling around in the middle than letting Rick Hahn/Kenny Williams trade any of the high profile guys. You dont trust their scouting fine I get it. But you cant have it both ways and then let them try and scout minor league players for potentially the most important trade in franchise history. What I don't want is it to be 2020 and Sales about to leave and we've don't nothing but suck and then not get anything for him. Same goes for Q. Sell high on these guys and with those two you should get two young MLB ready impact players, plus a bunch of A prospects and some B. Then you can still move the other guys. I don't trust Hahn very much but I'm sick of seeing this s***. I'd rather suck and have some awesome young prospects coming through the system and knowing at least there's a long term future ahead. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) Hahn needs to get fired after this year. Just can't build a winning team or build up the farm system. Hard to build a farm system when you have to trade all of your assets for decent major league players. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:20 PM) So here's the question and this is for everyoen who wants to sell. This management cant build a roster. But you want to give them the keys to a full rebuild? Or is your objective to get them to move? I don't think we have much choice. JR won't fire anyone. This group isn't getting it done. Better to try and rebuild than waste years of Sale, Q, etc and have nothing to show for it. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) They will lose if they sell. For maybe a long time. Trading Sale doesnt = winning baseball. Really trading anyone on the roster doesnt equate to more wins. Not in the near future and potentially long term future. They're already f***ing losing. What's it matter?! No playoff appearance since 2008. I agree this doesn't equate to more wins but stock piling young talent maybe more beneficial than this s***. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) Oh give me a break. Those two directly coincide with each other Oh that's bulls***. I want them to win until they're eliminated. But I want them to sell because this way isn't getting it done. Can Hahn rebuild moving the main core? I'm not so sure. But I'm over this missing the playoffs being mediocre s***. I'm tired of half ass roster retools. I'd rather be excited knowing guys like Moncada, Benintendi, etc are coming up. To be honest, the most exciting things with the sox now are prospects being called up. This team f***ing sucks. Being shutout again. This scoreless inning streak against s*** opponents is embarrassing. Shame on this organization. I'll be here to root them on but I'm over this fools gold. -
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) Too much is made about "making the playoffs." I would much rather not make the playoffs than get in as a wold card and lose the elimination game, or make the playoffs and get swept and humiliated in four games by the Mets. Not me. Get Sale or Q the elimination game and see what happens.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) I don't know if there is an actual win total that matters whether they should blow things up. Out of the playoffs is out of the playoffs. To me, 76-86 or 86-76 is the same thing if you're going home. That said, I think the Sox will be 77-78 or 78-77 with a week left, and they'll play the Rays and Twins 7 games at home that won't mean anything to anyone. They'll probably be shutting Sale down after 32 starts. If they win 86-88 and still miss the playoffs that sucks but to me that's better than 79 wins. That means blowing the Texas and KC series cost us the playoffs. Only winning 79 means we're still far off.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Definitely implying it because Cespedes didn't come cheap at all at 3 years 75 million with 27.5 million in the first year. Did you want him to spend 30 million a year on Cespedes? Not at all. He's spent on other FAs. I'm just saying its on him for not getting the bat. Go big or go home. Guess what? The Sox are going home once again.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 11:14 AM) You are implying it, quit playing semantics No I wasn't. I'm simply placing blame on him. Not calling him cheap at all. Cheap is never signing FAs and being very frugal.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) Yep. 79 wins, plus or minus 2, based on the last week of meaningless games vs Rays and Twins. If they win 79 games it's time to blow it up, including the front office. 3 win improvements won't cut it.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) I'm sorry, JR isn't cheap for not offering 30M a season for three seasons. That's ludicrous Again I never said he was cheap. He spent on DRob, Melky, Abreu. You're thinking I implied that. Try reading again.
-
This team is fools gold and finished. They won't win the wild card. They'll win about 82 games max.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:34 AM) It really has nothing to do with breaking the bank, but go ahead and run with that. Cespedes was there for the taking. So what's it have to do with then?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:30 AM) So in one thread you say blow this team up. In this one they just need a hitter the owner is too cheap to acquire. Seems you can't pick a lane. Yes I can. I want this team to be blown up. But this owner wouldn't spend on the hitter we needed this offseason and it's showing. Try comprehending.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 12:57 AM) Your browser does not support iframes. Big boy went oppo. So stoked about that pick.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 01:12 AM) . One difference- Guerra was on the Whitesox. He was not on those other teams recently. Cooper wouldn't use him. Sure he was a fluke. But flukes happen. Guerra pitched off the charts in Charlotte before being called up. Just need to be aware when it's your good fortune. No need to make excuses for Cooper and the rest of the evaluators. That was a poor job with personnel. When Hahn abruptly cut the rebuild short, he had 5 years of Q and Sale. Now it's down to 3.5 years with little progress made. Foolishly saddled team with 2.5 years of Shields. What to do? And an owner who won't break the bank in a hitter that this team badly needs.
