7/15/16 White Sox at Angels

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) Unacceptable performance tonight. Offense had no game plan at all. Fire this whole coaching staff after the season. Hahn can go with them. -

I've called this team fools gold and was mocked for it. That's what they are. But they'll flutter around .500 and this team will tinker and make some moves and they'll still fall short. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 10:10 PM) Good for you. Go watch the Braves. See how great their fortune is. They were supposed to be competing next year. The Rockies have been in perpetual rebuild mode for years. My issue is this team has sucked for the better part of 8 seasons with the exception of the first half of 2012. Hahn can't build a team around this core. His FA signings suck. I never hated his trades but they haven't all worked out that great. Eaton was a really good one. Avi sucks but the other guys in the peavy trade helped acquire Lawrie. It's just not working with this core. I'd much rather watch young talented prospects knowing we have a solid future. The cupboard isn't bare and we could clean up moving Sale and Q alone. Do I trust Hahn to rebuild this team again? Not really but this FO isn't put on notice and this organization is loyal to a fault. I'd just rather blow this up then trade Fulmer and Adams for a decent bat. Our farm is lacking and trading them will only make matters worse. Time for something new. Rebuild and rip apart the coaching staff. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 11:17 PM) Wtf is Abreu doing out there? Also, Timmy with a nightmare game. He's young and will have nightmare games. Abreu sucks and shouldn't be the 1B. He should DH. -

No point in having Albers up. He can't get anyone out -

Just tuned in. Man this is discouraging. Back to the Last of Us. Blow this s*** team up. Send them all out I don't care because this isn't working. Haven't scored in 20 innings. f*** this team -
Michael Hickman related to Blake?

More confirmation @chriscotillo Source confirms: White Sox are promoting Carson Fulmer to the majors, and he will be activated tomorrow.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 10:35 PM) Remember when Nolan Sanburn was mentioned as a long-shot bullpen candidate/future closer when we acquired him from the A's? Not so much. Adam Dunn trade? He was a very very long shot.
-
Personally I'd like to see him come out of the pen this season and then start next year. Having Fulmer and Burdi eventually gives this pen some much needed help. 2017 rotation has lots of potential: Sale, Quintana, Shields, Rodon, Fulmer
-
@barstoolWSD Actually he just texted me. Fulmer up, Carrol DFA #WhiteSox
-
Awesome! Seems like early on he was working on things that's why he was getting shelled. Pitched a lot better as of late. Personally, I'd like to move him to AAA first but maybe one of our future sox guys can give some insight on this.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 10:30 PM) And there we are...where essentially standing pat is losing ground. Because we don't have the farm systems or financial resources of the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Astros, Mariners, Yankees or even the Tigers/Royals if we want to include them as well. Cleveland has the best rotation in baseball and one of the best minor league system and there crowds of 30,000+ now are going to give them some extra money to play around with at the margins (not to mention the pressure to follow up on the Cavs' success). If the goal is to field a "pretty competitive club" EVERY year, but we don't have the pieces or money to make any significant moves at the All-Star break because we're outgunned every time, how is that going to work as a successful strategy, exactly? We need Fulmer for the future...sure, and Burdi might be part of this year's team this season, but we keep on "deferring the dream" (quoting MLK) and eventually it will just disappear into the ether like it never existed at all. Standing pat is just a gutless move. Pick a direction and roll with it. We're wasting the careers of our core. This team is f***ed at the deadline because Hahn can't fill in the pieces around this core and has to trade assets each offseason just to make this team halfway competitive; this leaves us without the necessary assets to go get pieces we need at the deadline the past couple seasons.

Alvarez is en fuego. Nice to see Engel heating up as well. Good night for Ranaudo.
-
I'm sick of half ass "all-ins." I don't want to trade Fulmer and that's where I'm at. We don't have a ton of good pitching prospects that are near ready. I'd be more inclined to move Spencer Adams although I really like him as well.

Truth is guys, sometimes ya miss on info. It happens. I remember watching ESPN and them saying Cliff Lee was a Yankee. Then it fell apart. s*** happens sometimes in negotiations.

Everyone points to Garcia, but it's Abreu's slide that's k

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) Thank you. We need you to step your game up bro! -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) The fact is, very few star Rockies players have kept up their numbers outside of Colorado over time. Matt Holliday is one of the exceptions, but his success has mostly come in the NL with the Cardinals (as compared to the A's). We'll find out soon enough with Morneau (2014 stud in Colorado)...and possibly CarGo/Blackmon on the move (but probably just one of the two). Tulo with the Blue Jays (although he's also getting a bit older and has suffered so many injuries) would be yet another...going all the way back to the days of Larry Walker, Dante Bichette and Andres Big Cat Galarraga. But Morneau had success before going to Colorado.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) He's better than you're giving him credit for. I haven't looked at his numbers this season so is he worth Fulmer? Everyone has an issue with Colorado hitters and rightfully so. I'm just not a fan of giving up Fulmer for him.

QUOTE (kwill @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) I think the larger takeaway is Austin Jackson is going to be out longer than they thought. If they thought Jackson was coming back in the 6-8 week timetable, I don't think they are looking for a centerfielder. Consider The Bust In FA: Jackson ( no fault of White Sox injuries happen) Rollins Latos That is probably 10 million dollars that could have gone to a useful player. Those were all low risk high reward signings. I didn't think Latos would be that good to begin with so we got our use out of him. Rollins held down the fort for Anderson til he was ready. Jackson was fine until he got hurt. He is what he is but he's still replaceable when healthy. Those signings aren't complete busts because of what they were to begin with. The issue was not going all out for Cespedes after Gordon stayed in KC.
-
I'll be pissed if we're giving up Fulmer for Blackmon. Just doesn't do much for me. I know he doesn't play center but is Blackmon a better option than Reddick? If I'm moving Fulmer, I want an elite bat. Or more impactful than Blackmon.

Bigsoxhurt35 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't blame it on any one player. It's been a combination of things. We knew Avi sucks. Abreu having a down year was the last thing we needed. Injuries to the bullpen didn't help. The back end of the rotation really hurt this team. The lineup hasn't been good either. So it's been a combination of all those things. -
Drew Pomeranz - S - Red Sox Red Sox acquired LHP Drew Pomeranz from the Padres for RHP prospect Anderson Espinoza. The Padres and Red Sox have been trade partners before, teaming up on the Craig Kimbrel deal last offseason. After beating around the bush with trades for Aaron Hill and Brad Ziegler, Sox president Dave Dombrowski finally buckled down and addressed Boston's biggest need by adding a starting pitcher. Pomeranz was an All-Star for the Padres in the first half, notching a steady 2.47 ERA over 17 outings while sporting an impressive 10.15. Boston's rotation now features Pomeranz, David Price, Steven Wright, Rick Porcello and Eduardo Rodriguez. The 27-year-old is under team control through 2018. If Pomeranz pitches the way he did in San Diego over the last few months, the Red Sox will have a good chance to contend in the AL East. Source: San Diego Union-TribuneJul 14 - 6:12 PM
