Well no thanks LAD

Puig is a big question mark. I'd deal Hawkins, Danish and another very low level prospect. I'd buy low on Puig and he may be the most realistic option because of value and the sox not having a deep system.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) I see no reason to move Eaton back to CF unless you add a big bat for a corner spot next season. He plays it at such an elite level that it wouldn't make any sense to do it. Agreed. Keep Eaton where he's successful with the bat and the glove. He's been fantastic in RF.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) I see this narrative so much here at SoxTalk and I wish it would die. Since about the halfway point of last year Semien has been a passable shortstop. There have been articles about how he was coached up and his error rate plummeted to prove it. He made an error every 27 innings through June of last year; since then he has made one every 72 innings. However else people wanna feel about that trade, okay. It's a trade that will be debated forever. But let's stop saying that Marcus Semien can't be a decent middle infielder in the majors. That's why I said WAS.

Todd moving on!

Stanton hit one 497 feet...he's a Monstar

The sox did spend $68 million on unknown Jose Abreu. I mean I wanted Moncada when he was a FA but I can't get too pissed off because they did spend on Abreu.

Trumbo with 16 including one on top of the supply company building

Seager with 15 round 1

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) I don't know about that. Semien was a guy everyone seemed to like and were upset about losing but the thought process was we have Micah/Sanchez/Anderson and you have to give to get. Phegley was a guy who could have been outrighted off the 40. Bassit was a guy I know I was upset about losing but most thought he was a fringe arm. Ravelo had some upset but a lot wrote him off due to lack of position or power. Samardzija performed to his 20-30% percentile probably. I agree. Semien was a butcher at SS, Phegley is a backup catcher. Ravelo I was on the fence about. As for the Frazier trade I thought Hahn selling high on those guys was a good decision. Micah couldn't stay healthy and Lawrie is a better fit for us. Montas has been hurt all year. Trayce has come back to earth. I agreed with both trades and still can't be mad at them. Shark just didn't work out. It happens. Win some lose some. Frazier's average is bad and has an unusually low amount of doubles but I think both will come back to his normal numbers or close. Maybe not double so much but I think he'll have a better half. If we didn't have him this season? Ouch. This team would be a lot worse off.

He belongs in the pen this season to get his feet wet. Then next season he'll start.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 01:53 AM) What is this? Frazier is hitting .145?? On the road or what? Greg. See above. It's RISP.

QUOTE (chisox802 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) This team really should sell. The only way they have a chance is to bring in a big bat, which I don't see how that is going to happen. I actually think the division is more feasible than a wild card spot. Obviously, for that to happen we would have to play well against them....... A west coast trip and then the 4 against the tigers and 4 against the cubbies could determine the future of this team. I disagree because they suck against everyone in the central except MIN.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 07:49 AM) I agree that the division is at least as attainable as the wild card. I would agree if they played better against the divison. The wild card isn't out of reach but this weekend hurt it.
-
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 07:35 AM) Sox should be aiming at the division. Wild Card is looking so much tougher and even though they're out 7 games Cleveland has really cooled off. With that said I don't even know who they would sell off that would bring any value besides the core guys. Might as well stand pat. They suck in the division with the exception of Minnesota. That's why I've conceded it. You'd sell Melky, Robertson, Frazier and Lawrie. Then maybe Quintana but like CWS said, we'd need blown away to move a guy of Qs caliber. Give me Betts or Bradley Jr, Moncada, Benintendi and Swihart or Devers and you got a deal. You could always wait until the offseason to move Q. Sale would be an offseason move along with Abreu. Basically keep a young core of Eaton, Anderson, Rodon. You'd have young impact prospects in the system who aren't too far off. Basically try and compete in 2018 and beyond. You'd be built for long term as well.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 07:28 AM) 4.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot at the break. With the way Toronto & Red Sox are playing right now, I'm feeling less optimistic about our chances. Honestly, I'm starting to lean towards selling, but obviously you give it a couple of weeks before you make any significant moves, buy or sell. Agree. We're done in the division. Now 4.5 GB in the second wild card. We do hold the tie breakers over those two but this team just to keep pace needs to be aggressive. It sucks they couldn't at least tread water during that 10-26 stretch. That stretch basically will cost them a shot at the playoffs. Hopefully they give it two weeks and see where they're at. If they're out of it then they need to sell.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 05:38 AM) I feel like the Bulls should be the team taking advantage of the issues in Philly where they basically want to give away Jahlil Okafor. That would be nice. He'd definitely help this team.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:45 AM) http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2016/7/10/1214...ors-yasiel-puig Dodgers open to trading Puig, but must receive MLB pieces back in return http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2016/7/8/12132...hner-de-la-rosa Looking at this article, you'd think the White Sox actually have MORE motivation to make a move at the deadline, because they have two aces lined up for the post-season in Sale/Q...and both teams pretty much have to make the decision to begin rebuilding or go all-in at the All-Star Break in 2017. How desperate are both owners to get to the post-season?? Ya that's where we need to be. Go for it or sell. They don't have to trade Sale til the offseason if they did decide to sell even Q if the right deals not there. But they could move Melky, Robertson, Frazier and maybe Abreu. I wouldn't trade Nate Jones. I'd keep him and make him close next year. I want Moncada badly from Boston. I wanted the sox to go all in and sign him. He is going to be a star and showed out during the futures game.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 11:19 PM) Sox are hitting .239. Beltran is hitting .215. Bruce .366. Curious about Cargo. Now I know his road splits are worse but he'd be coming to a very hitter friendly park. Not as good as Colorado but it's good. He would've hit bombs this weekend at the Cell. I'd much rather have him than Bruce.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) I'd be interested to see some in depth stats that illustrate how much difference a big bat would have made in our line up in the first half and forecasted into the second. As in - how many LOB have we had per game on average. How many 2nd base or 3rd base runners stranded with 0 outs / 1 out / 2 outs... Take those stats and figure how much would change with a producer added. Maybe - just maybe - a big bat would do a lot for this team. Most likely not enough but just wondering. I'd assume just take what player you'd add (call him X). Take a stat like RISP and then factor player X in.

**7/10 Game Thread: White Sox vs Braves**

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 10:52 PM) f*** that - if you're blowing it up.. Blow it up. Sale and Abreu goes as well. Q for sure. Anderson, Rodon, and Eaton are the new ones to build around. I think they could honestly just trade Quintana and get better. Short term (rest of the season) it'd hurt the rotation but next season would be more beneficial. That's if you could get a haul from Boston. Personally, I'd love to see the, blow it up and watch a bunch of young top prospects grow. It's fun watching Tim come up and grow and do well. Imagine if we had Moncada, Benintendi, Devers, etc. from trading those guys. I'd be excited to watch them develop and they're close enough to the bigs that it's not like your trading for a bunch of low A prospects. -
Either go for it or sell. No in between nonsense.
