  4. Brandon gets his hat straightened out by Esty with the Whifff
  5. Crisp flies to Maggs in short right
  6. Coco Crisp leading off against Esty And the Sox are indeed wearing 1983 unis.
  7. the game is on Fox national, not fox sports Chicago. But it is only being carried in parts of the country. i'm listening on the radio via the internet. i think this is the sox lineup\ Graffanino 2b CLee LF THomas DH Maggs RF Konerko 1B Everett CF Crede 3B Valentin SS Olivo C Konerko jumps ahead of Carl in the lineup Paulie can carry us for the next few weeks.
  8. i'd guess lots of folks are at the GAme it's a beautiful day in Chicago and they are honoring the 1983 team. in fact, I think the Sox are wearing 1983 Uniforms hope they don't post that Twins' score on the board there.
  9. 5-0 Twinkies AJ homers off R.A. Freakin Dickey The Rangers are killing us.
  10. now it's 3-0 Twinkies in the third. Man on third, two outs. with Radke pitching that means it will be Radke vs. Loaiza on Thursday afternoon in Chicago. Wednesday will probably be Santana vs. Buehrle. we need to win today. no time to slip behind -- not with our schedule
  11. and they've got two men on with nobody out texas ain't gonna do nuttin to help us Graff playing second and leading off for us. robbie resting
  12. any lineups? no tv for those of us outside the Chicago area
  13. Baggs, Biggio and Kent, we're counting on you, fellas. GO ASTROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Rex: YOu have probably answered these questions before, but I'll ask anyway: What is your assessment of Yofu as a major-league prospect? And bullard? And Meaux? And Bajenaru, while I'm at it? I'm aware Yofu is older, but he's had some great outings this summer. Bullard seems to have found his niche in the pen. Meaux is the lefty we got from SF for Durham, but he's older and has been slow to advance in the minors although his numbers have been very solid. And Bajenaru is coming back from surgery. Which of the four has the best chance to make the club next year if the bullpen is reshuffled?
  15. we're going to have to count on the Astros to save us from The Dustys making the post-season because the Cardinals are D-O-A, done in last night by two former Sox in the ninth inning -- Tim Hummel (who scored the tying run) and D'Angelo (who had a big hit). Home town fans booed them off the field, something you rarely hear in the quote Best Baseball Town in America unquote. Losing to the Reds like that is as deflating as losing to the Tigers.
  16. nice to see garland step up so far everybody forgets he is only 23 and has 3 full years of big league experience a keeper
  17. hope this team plays with the stones of the 1983 team. LaMarr Hoyt, Britt Burns, Harold, Fisk and Richard Dotson are some of my all-time favorite Sox players. Hoyt was a bad-ass in 1983. won the Cy Young and gave us our only playoff win. Hope he shows up because that guy was a gamer. Had some personal problems after we shipped him to San Diego for Ozzie. But he threw a ton of innings while he was here. be counting on the board for updates tonight because I'll be away from a TV. Does anybody know if Sabathia is pitching in this series?
  18. Five reasons to believe 1. Sox starting pitching is better than Minny or KC. Colon and Buehrle threw well against Boston. Loaiza seems to enjoy the stopper's role. Garland is solid at Number Four. 2. Maggs is due to get hot. He's a bit on the streaky side. He was GREAT right after the all-star game and has slowly cooled. He has played the last week after jamming that finger. Just a hunch that he's ready to get locked in. 3. We play both KC and Minny at home before we go there. Excluding the last two days, Sox play better at home. We should take care of business at home, build a little cushion and put the pressure on Minny and KC to have to win when we go to their yards. 4. We have a veteran team. Lots of guys on this team have been to the post=season. A few -- the Alomars, Colon -- have been to the World Series. September shouldn't bother them. 5. Paulie. As bad as he was for 12 weeks, the Gods of Baseball will reward him for working hard and staying positive by letting him finish the season ON FIRE.
  19. there is some good news: Sports Illustrated picks the Twins to win in this week's issue. SI's record in picking ain't goo. Sox are going to need to take 3 out of 4 from the Twinkies next week. Of that, there is little doubt. and maybe the Twinkies used up their luck for the month with that fluke win yesterday hope so..
  20. Piniella is small (5-10) and a castoff from the Rangers farm system Is he at all a prospect? I would suspect not because he's been a career .271 hitter in the minor leagues with no real pop. But it seems as if he has had a decent year.
  21. plenty of blame to go around for this loss plenty just wasn't meant to be Manny somehow made a decent sidearm relay. Nomar has a gun the ESPN replay sure seemed to show that Rowand was only three or four steps past third when Nomar got the ball the odds were not good at that point
  22. Monday everybody was up when the Royals and Twins both lost now everybody is down one well pitched game and a strong series against the Twinkies next week is what the Sox need kinda glad they have tomorrow off maybe that John Thomson dude can shut down the Twinkies I believe he will pitch one of the games And we need the D'backs to stop the Royals tomorrow
  23. it's gonna come down to this Seven games vs. Twins. Better win four and probably five
  24. WORST DAY OF THE SEASON BAR NONE
