  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Avi has a lot of bad tendencies at the plate. I said this last week, but I wouldn't be upset if they use him as a major piece in a trade. Avisail sure doesn't look like much for all the hype he is given. At one time I thought this team could be good next year... wow do I not see that anymore. Robin is gone also - there is no way with this horrible finish that they can keep him again for next year.
  2. I like Robin - great sense of humor, great demeanor. I just don't think he is very smart.
  3. only 5 games better this year at this point than last year.... However a lot of these players will be gone.... and the manager will be gone. Hopefully they find some bull pen help next year.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 11:06 PM) I'm with you, but the late season collapses were happening well-before a Robin got here...it's like something in the water. Yeah in Ozzies last few years they collapsed like folding chairs when it mattered also.
  5. melton just commented on the pattern of late season collapses.
  6. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) I can't blame this on Robin now. Torre wouldn't help this team. We suck. We don't suck- with a decent bull pen we are in some kind of hunt. We aren't great though either (we def suck at times) If Robin was more solid I'm not saying we would be in the playoffs our bullpen is too bad. I'm simply saying he isn't manager material. I think even with this horrible bullpen some better game management we could be 500.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:50 PM) They have a team ERA over 6.00 in the 8th inning and about 5.00 in the 9th. Eaton, Abreu, Gillaspie, Garcia, Sale all have spent time on the DL. Paulino and Johnson were total busts. I don't know how that all is Robin's fault. What should their record be? All is a strong word - I wouldn't say its all his fault. The bullpen is total trash no doubt. I loved Robin Ventura when he played here and I think he has a great sense of humor personality ect. I just don't think at this point he has (he had zero managing experience) he can handle this job day to day. Some day he might but he just isn't there yet.
  8. RV just (in my opinion) makes too many mistakes that cost us a game here and there. Mistakes tonight: #1 runners on 2nd and 3rd no one out - Danks up (who just bunt for a hit earlier) and no sacrifice. Ventura has no concept of moving runners up - he especially has been amazingly bad about it this year. #2 putting Webb in in the 9th. We all knew as soon as Webb went in there the game was over. Put in Petricka he hasn't pitched much lately. I would love Robin in some form in the organization - but he is not a MLB manager. He knew he wasn't when he took the job and why he was so hesitant.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 09:40 PM) Check out the rosters then pop off. Yeah because that Yankee roster so much better. Yeah our roster isn't all that special however there is 3 years to me is a pattern. Hope I'm wrong and all the "people with perspective" who don't blame RV are so correct as there level of smug. I'd gladly eat crow.
  10. another Ventura squad floundering down the stretch. I love Robin, his sense of humor... demeanor. But he is absolutely not a major league manager.
  11. 3 runs in the first inning... none since. Stagnant offense going on 5 games now.
