Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 11:04 PM) They've spent 33.5 million for the 2016 season on Estrada, Dickey, and Happ. Stroman & Hutchison are close to minimum guys, and Chavez won't get that much in arbitration. Tulo & Martin make more than that between the 2 of them. Stroman, being a minimum guy, still wouldn't be replaced. Again, not saying the Jays will definitely make a run, but wouldn't be the least bit shocked if they ended up with one.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:58 PM) Personally I think J UP fits better than Cespy in Toronto. No one knows how this will shake out but it's promising to see guys coming off the board to teams we thought were competitors. Who knows who and if we end up with anyone but so far the FO is playing their cards right and I'm cautiously optimistic. Agree I think we still do end up with Cespedes or Upton. It would be amazing if we got a "Davis agrees to deal with Orioles" headline this weekend.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) They're not fooling anyone with anyone in that rotation either....outside of Stroman, maybe. They can afford to have a "hole" in LF given the state of their current lineup. I get that, but they have a lot of money tied up in that rotation between 5 starters already. I see Chen signing with the Nats (he's been connected to them throughout the offseason). I just don't know who they'd spend on.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:48 PM) Yeah, there are reportsb saying they traded revere because he was a luxury with their surplus of OFs. They are not in this market. I wonder who's gonna leadoff in that lineup. Their lineup reminds me of some of those 2000s Sox teams that had so much right handed pop (Thomas, Lee, Magglio, Konerko)

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) They have Saunders, Pillar and Bautista in the OF with Pompey waiting. They have no openings. I think they use a rotating DH for the most part though. And come on man, they wouldn't be fooling anyone if they said they believe Saunders to be the starter and healthy for most of the season.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) Who's doubting Hahn and KW? If he's referring to me, it doesn't make sense. I'm just throwing out that another team could possibly be a fit. Just because I said it doesn't mean I think it'll definitely happen. I believe in Hahn to get one if Upton and Cespedes.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Yet to see any baseball reporter suggest jays will go after a big OF It's been like an hour and it's a Friday. And just because a guy suggests something or not doesn't mean that's the definite case. Every year this late fans always try to connect the dots, figuring out what players can go what to teams, and there's always teams that make moves that opens up possible fits.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:36 PM) Eh, they'd still be better served going after a pitcher with any money they have. But who would they spend on? Off the top of my head I'm pretty sure they've already spent on 5 guys for their rotation with Stroman also being a lock. I know they have Stroman Estrada Happ Chavez who was acquired to start and Dickey.

Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
My revised predictions: Orioles: Davis Blue Jays: Cespedes White Sox: Upton (late short-term deal)
-
Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
It's becoming increasingly obvious Upton is going to be this year's big free agent that doesn't sign until late Jan/early February.
-
Ben Revere to the Nationals
Due to the Jays having an open corner spot, I'd put them as a higher threat than Nationals personally.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) No chance. Their lineup is stacked as it is. If anything, they'll go after pitching. I wouldn't be so certain. Bautista and Encarnacion are free agents after this seasn.

Ben Revere to the Nationals
I would add Jays to the list of potential suitors now.
-
Heyman: Justin Upton to the Tigers
I don't see what's wrong with that tweet. "They're willing to go more than 3 but it is unlikely that they would." ....? It's possible that team could be willing but the chances are slim is what's it's saying.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) When was it said that Upton was uninterested? That's what I'm wondering as well.
-
Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) Between Upton and Cespedes, which guy do you think is more likely to sign with the Sox? His guess is as good as ours.
-
Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
Can anyone else envision Upton getting a 4 year deal with an opt out after sat year 2?
-
Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
Dammit Davis just sign and take your money from the O's already so the rest of the other pieces can start falling into place.

Gerardo Parra signs with Rockies, 3 yrs 27.5mil
I have a feeling the Nats are more likely to go with Austin Jackson as they wouldn't have to move Harper or Werth to center. Signing Jackson also does not prevent them from extending Harper later (though I think K they're supposed to have a big TV deal coming soon too).

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) It seems obvious to me the hold up is Cespedes and Upton want to see what Baltimore does with the pile of money it offered Davis. If one of those guys signs there, Boras will be left trying to save face. I don't see another team offering $150 million for Davis, so how he may do this is a one year contract higher than the AAV he turned down. He has played RF and LF, maybe not so well, but throw $25 million at him for 1 season to see what he could do. It would be a huge gamble, but he would be playing for a contract, and USCF does play well into Davis' offensive game. If he hits 40 or 50 homers, he would wind up paying for himself in spades. Yeah Davis is definitely the hold up.

The next market inefficiency...2nd/3rd tier pitching
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 8, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) Ian Kennedy to the Royals would give the White Sox a higher draft pick. So that helps. Yes sir. We need as many of the QO free agents to sign with teams that haven't given up their first round pick yet as well as the Padres (likely landing spot for Desmond).

Sox Claim OF Daniel Fields off Waivers from Dodgers
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) One more note, the Sox still have two open spots on the 40 man roster FWIW. Not worth anything really but nice note I guess.

Cespedes Re-signs with the Mets
I hope there is an announcement of Davis signing with the Orioles today.
