We were not going to get Jeff Hoffman for a rental. Maybe Q for a package of prospects including him but not for Shark.

Could it be a tactic to try to get more?

If they trade Shark for pitching depth, I'm completely open to dealing Q for hitting. You'd keep Sale Rodon Danks in rotation for next season, possibly Fulmer sometime next season or an MLB ready SP from Shark trade or go out and Sig a stop gap mid rotation type.

It also sounds like 3 SD starters are available too (Shields, Ross, Cashner)
