  1. 2022 is also the last year of Abreu's contract opening up 1B for Vaughn and DH for Eloy.
  2. Exactly. And most days, you will see maybe 3-4 of them in there. Leury was hitting 3rd the other day lol
  3. Can we just have one thread, especially one that is about enjoying the team, where it doesn't turn into negative bullshit?
  4. Should have happened in 2019. Edit: or last year after getting rid of Edwin and then DHing him last year.
  5. This. So much this. It means a lot of guys are spending time on the IL.
  6. I would definitely bet on Grandal catching more than 100 games.
  7. Eating inngs early in spring training during garbage time and let guys like Rodon and Kopech save as many bullets as possible.
  8. I just responded to a post about Lucroy in the other thread, but if Vaughn is on the OD roster, how does Lucroy factor to catch often?
  9. Why would he catch often? I mean, I have no problem with Grandal getting early rest DHing a lot when Vaughn isn't up (assuming he starts in minors) and the position is more open but I don't want to lose Abreu, Vaughn, or Grandal's bat "often."
  10. Yeah he probably makes sense on a team like Pittsburgh or some rebuilding team where he can play every day with a good veteran back up to learn from.
  11. Whatever the cost (couple mill maybe), save it to use on a pitcher mid-season if needed.
  12. Right. Not a lot of flexibility with him on roster. I was surprised to see he has never played RF in the majors.
  13. Unfortunately, it all comes down to having an 85-year old owner, who likely isn't around to care about who is on the team in 5-6 years from now.
  14. Pretty close to nothing to be honest.
  15. Why would they have to wait 6 weeks? Madrigal came up not long after the date for him to get an extra year of control without a minor league season.
  16. I'm willing to sacrifice the like, 10 games. Although I would prefer he was extended and on the roster day 1. Edit: just looked at the schedule and realized they don't have many days off early. But of course, that can change due to weather and COVID.
  17. I think the point he is trying to make is if you use the excuse that they want to see him get minor league at bats for a couple weeks (just enough to get to that cutoff), you suddenly don't have that argument with the AAA season being delayed.
  18. Yep. Just toss at least a 7-year deal and buy out the 4 arb years he would have waiting until mid-April.
  19. I feel like that shouldn't effect guys currently in the MLB though. Guys called up prior to any changes in the CBA and service time should be grandfathered in under old rules in my opinion.
