    There haven't been any short-term fixed that will complicate anything in the long run so I guess that part is accurate.

    Boston could have but didn't since it was after the trade deadline and they wouldn't be able to deal for anyone else. It's pretty obvious by now that Shields wasn't hurt when he was traded. He just sucked.

    I could have sworn they did. Edit: I guess they didn't. I would have been ok signing him and plugging him in at 3B for a couple of years but oh well.
