FS: 2021 MLB Mock Draft 1.0
What did you get wrong? Probably everything. But that’s what makes this so fun. Thanks for this. Good read.

2021 Plan for Kopech and Crochet
Bullpen for crochet now and forever. Cap kopech at 110 innings in AAA and shut him down for the year.

Day 12 of no new Sox News
Next news is probably some medial signing followed by merkin explaining to us why owners had to postpone the season.

Supporting staff is off for the holidays, but the bigwigs are still at it.

I don’t think anyone wants less good players, it’s just a matter of accepting reality and adjusting expectations and desires accordingly.

Honestly I wouldn’t mind him being a three inning opener guy every now and then, just to give the staff some extra rest. I’m a little concerned about guys going from 2020 to a full 30+ starts + hopefully postseason. Ideally it’ll give him some feel for starting a game at the big league level, too. When not doing that use him in a hader/miller role.

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread
I’m not an insider. Just to be clear. but a few years ago I had insides into the industry via the blue Jays. Chicago was known for coming in hard with offers of their valuation and not negotiating, moving on if no agreement. This was more on the amateur side, but wouldn’t shock me if if it was the pro side too. Likely means nada just saying.

Indians will be no more
Until John Rocker with an oversized smile is named their mascot/logo and then it’s back to square one.

The Sox don't need to sign a DH. They have Yermín Francisco Mercedes.
If the Sox aren’t interested in giving him a chance I think there will be some team with a valuation of him high enough to give something of value back. Not suggesting a haul, but interesting bullpen arm or something.

It does say they have interest.

Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
Hopefully you don’t become an asshole.

Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
There’s an old expression. If you hate something too much you become it. I would think about it.

Trevor Bauer v. Lance Lynn
Lance Lynn was traded for market value. Move the fuck on.

If another bat isn’t signed I agree 100% it’s horseshit. But if they sign another lefty OF bat...ok. Not my ideal, but rotating DH makes some sense too. Seems like they’re being aggressive. I have lots of opinions too, but biting my proverbial tongue until I see where the pieces land.

They’ve done a great job at cost control/certainty

Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
There’s gotta be some arb raises in there, but I’ve spent zero time thinking about it. Probably not much.

Pusha t should provide Eaton’s walk up music.

I’d probably do that, and I don’t even particularly like Lynn.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
more words came after the “...” that explicitly say he didn’t think cease had no chance. His point was that cease can’t locate his fastball (true) and that he’s skeptical of his ability to rectify this (fair). You seem to think this means he thinks cease is doomed, and based your response off of that. You were rebutting an argument that wasn’t made. as for your argument that young pitchers who can’t locate their fastball are doomed, i agree they aren’t. Using the top, just estimating, .0001% of likely outcomes is a stretch, but gio is more plausible. The likelihood of reaching that level isn’t good, but it’s possible. That’s the gamble. Some are willing to take it some aren’t. anyways I’m going to leave it at that on my end bc you probably agree these back and forths get annoying for everyone.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
To be fair, he didn’t say no chance, he said 50/50 at best. I also don’t think comparing any young, unestablished player to a hall of famer is fair...Especially freaks like Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson who are the ultimate exception to just about every rule. I’m not arguing one way or another, just my thoughts on those two things.
