That's about half his salary and I agree with you Jason. If we had an Owner committed to "winning the WS this year", getting in on the Giles/Kendall sweepstakes would be an opportunity a team truly "committed to winning" would be all over. But our Owner is Reinsdorf and any talk of "winning it all" is purely lipservice and, IMHO, Everett and R Alomar are another version of a more subtle White Flag than any true desire to get to the postseason and be successful.

The whole reason why the Pirates team is available is because they are losing money. Don't look for Pittsburgh to deal anyone they'd have to pay the salary of anyway.

Absolutely. All Ponson is is an expensive version of our number 3..... possibly 4. No reason to over pay (KW is the GM) for an average to very slightly above average pitcher who will probably turn out to be the equivalent of Tim Belcher in '93. If we trade for Ponson, I'm talking 2 or 3 A level guys even we have never even heard of. so the bottom line is that people thinks we need another pitcher, right With no defined number 5 right now? It wouldn't hurt. But you don't need a number 5 if you make the playoffs. Hopefully, Porzio can give us 5 or 6 good innings through most of his outings so we don't have to overpay for a SP. Remember, Porzio has only started two games..... both against Cleveland. It will be interesting to see how he does against Tampa.

Take it for what it's worth, but Chimp said that the sCrUBS will have Ramirez wrapped up through '04. If that's the case, the sCrUBS have a better 3B from now till the end of '04..... barring injury...... than they have had for a long time..... exception being Mueller. WTF ever happened to the franchise Kevin Orie?

I blame KW for this trade. Trust me. But KW isn't throwing the pitches finding the seats on a regular basis either. Botch is not without blame.

Who knows what to believe anymore. But this would be good for the prosecution if true. On another note about knowing what to believe, I heard reported today that the suicide attempt that many here are using as an example of this girls' stability, happened after the supposed rape. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression from what I've heard on here, that most believe this attempt happened before the supposed rape. If she attempted to kill herself after the supposed rape and this is a set-up, she sure is going balls out trying to convince the media and the public that the supposed rape actually happened.

Just for the record, I was against the Botch/Foulke deal from the day it happened and many on this board will back me up when I say that I was advocating JM give KF his closing job back in the second half of '02 when his ERA was a miniscule 1. But KW had other plans for KF obviously. Like trading his All-Star ass to Oakland for a guy with half the saves.
