Reading up more on Belle's career...I had completely forgotten that he had sent his Cleveland teammate Jason Grimsley to climb through a ceiling panel to replace the corked bat that was in the umpires room. Unless I am remembering wrong, they were playing the Sox when that happened.

I think the only guy I saw live at Comiskey where the ball came off the bat faster was Jim Rice. Belle had a monster year and then we dodged a bullet by him opting out the rest of that contract.

Reminds me of what I heard someone say about the unlikability of Royce Clayton with his teammates....it was said that the Sox replaced a guy who would run through a wall for his teammates with Clayton, a guy who would ask who put the wall there in the first place.
