I was thinking of another set of moves that Ricky made that might have cost us not playing this week against Houston....Adam Engel left a good number of guys on base that last game. If Ricky would have played Adam more in the couple of weeks coming up to the playoffs, might he have been more locked in during those at bats? I admit I could be incorrect since games 2 and 3 I was not able to watch and Engel may have still hit the balls hard and ran into some bad luck.

Timmy might have a case to make with 9 hits in a 3 game series But on the whole, I agree they will take stick with Mazara based what he did at the end of the year...the only disagreement I would have with myself about that is that they did bench him for game 1 of the series and they might not like what he would get in arbitration. We will see.

It seems like forever ago that they clinched going to the playoffs. Hell, it seems like a long time ago that Giolito had that perfect game going in game 1. It sure was a hell of a ride. When does hot stove talk begin? I'm looking forward to Bauer rumors.

With the nice extensions inked for the young core, this team should be in good shape financially to add free agent pieces. Can you imagine what TA would be worth in free agency if we had not extended him previously.

I think that is a definite possibility and I think Kopech might be the sweetener to get a deal done. Just a feeling I have had for awhile.

This might be a bit off topic but I thought one of the questions for McCann in the post game press conference about whether this was a good first step for this team was just clueless. Why are you asking a guy that question who is heading out the door? Give that question to Grandal instead?

I doubt that they fire him. The only reason that I think they might is the criticism coming from Stone who really has seemed to be a bit of a mouthpiece for the front office recently. Steve made it pretty clear they were not making a move at the trade deadline and he sure was right about that.

If he used Foster after Heuer with the bases empty instead of trying Rodon there, we might be talking about taking on Houston next week. But it's possible Foster would have not been able to find the plate in either scenario. But of course hindsight is 20/20. Having so many rookies in your bullpen for a pressure packed game is tough. To be honest, I am still pretty upset that Keuchel did not get the job done in game 2 (the type of game we brought him in for as a free agent) to make game 3 unnecessary.

Did I expect him to be an elite reliever? No. Did I hope he wouldn't shit the bed? Yes.

Q was absolutely one of my favorite players when he was here but if he is our only starting pitching acquisition I will be very disappointed. Bauer has to be the #1 priority target in the offseason imho. I would also like them to get some veteran arms for the bullpen. Mazara had good at bats late in the season and the postseason. I think he is back next year.

The radio post game was frustrating to hear with some people saying fans never even expected them to make the playoffs this year. With the expanded playoffs, I think most people here expected them to. I think it's very reasonable as a Sox fan to be pissed tonight. The A's were very beatable as well as the Astros would have been next week. Here's a hot take....I'm pissed at the guy that was brought in here to pitch big games like yesterday. There is plenty of blame to go around, but I am most disappointed with Keuchel at the moment.
