  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 08:26 PM) Be nice now. He might be struggling at the plate but his defense has been good Agreed. But getting picked off with that 18" lead.... SMH.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 06:41 PM) Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 29m29 minutes ago Hahn believes Shields can be fixed. "We believe they’re more mechanics...than the unprecedented evaporation of talent in a premier starter." What else is he gonna say? At least he's acknowledging how s***ty he's been. Props for that, I guess.
  3. Look at CY Gonzalez: 4 IP, 2 H, 3Ks, 0 BB 0 R And didn't even cost $45M.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) Not watching the game yet, but did he really switch it up in the middle of the game? If so, why in the world would he ever bat right-handed against a RHP? lol.. I don't know but Hawk seemed to think it was "the right thing to do" which means it's obviously NOT a good idea.
  5. Frazier isn't hitting his weight, but defensively he's a damn good 3B. He save a run easily there, if not 2. Nice to get out of that one unscathed.
  6. He's tried left (K), now right (GIDP)....wonder what's in store for the encore?
  7. Miguel Gonzalez....INNINGS EATER!* *Made it to the 3rd at least.
  8. It's seems our new SS with his vast 12 games or so of MLB experience is the only person who can hit a knuckleballer...lol.
  9. Lawrie on 3rd with 2 outs....Coats up. Oh thank God. A passed ball. That's about the only way that run was coming in!!!!
  10. Another RISP...stranded 2 so far. Let's not make it 3 already guys...
  11. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) How is Shields not number 140? Yeah, how can that be? Opposing BAA in his last 4 starts is like .500 and 1.1 OPS. No way that is right.

    Blow It Up

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Jose Abreu does not have "low trade value". It wasn't what it was a year ago, but the dude is still massively valuable. He's also not getting traded. Believe it or not, he's over a 1/2 million negative value right now per Fangraphs: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...sition=1B#value If anything is massive, it's his DROP OFF in value from his previous 2 years.
  13. Is the Avi "showcase" done for good, then? Also, what is the over/under on a first inning bunt? lol.
  14. I gotcha man, but I think when people say "dump him" (at least...what I mean) is get him the hell out of the rotation. Put him in the pen for mop up (the way this team hits, there will likely be plenty of it) and let him prove he can pitch better than a 23+ ERA before we stick him back in; if at all. His suckage right now is so epic, it's comical that he would even be considered to start again. But then again, Robin so....
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) That would be a poor use of resources at this point. It is one thing when you're trying to maintain a playoff position and you've tried a number of different things with an asset to no avail; it's quite another when you're at the bottom of the league and you've only had the asset for one month. I'm lost - What "asset" are you talking about? The one we had in April and then cut loose and had a $15M bonfire over? Or, the $3M one we had for 11 starts, cut loose, and ate. Maybe you mean this $27M one we have now (and will have for 2 more years) that has given up as many runs as the former except in 50 less innings and 8 fewer starts? That "asset"? *Edit - Good Lord, how pathetic is that when you look at it. Any team would love to allocate $45M to their 4 and 5 in the rotation and this team managed to spend that, get on the hook for the next two seasons for over half of it, and have absolutely NOTHING to look forward to right now, let alone the future.
  16. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/james-shiel...up-for-a-while/ Fangraphs article on Shields. Not too cheery. "Not too cheery" in pictorial format:
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Trump fired his campaign manager. Wow - job performance accountability and insufficient corrective planning having repercussions? What a world.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) A 13-2 game is more likely to destroy your bullpen for the next couple of days. Nope, no effect per Dick. Much like being in a 7 or 8 run hole before even getting your first at bat doesn't have an effect on an offense because: Extra inning win against Detroit that one time.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) This isn't really about Danks and Latos though. Why do people insist on bringing them up? Danks and Latos were both done. Latos was cheap and is gone. If Shields were also cheap, he'd probably be gone soon too. Shields costs $22 million over the next 2 seasons so there is every incentive to try and figure something out. Trading for Shields might have been stupid but it doesn't mean they should have just kept Danks or Latos My issue from the beginning with this signing was that it was unnecessary and other issues were a higher priority. That is why they are brought up. It also means that some people (myself included) don't agree with the bolded part. So really - the only remaining question is how many more of these 2 IP/7+ ER starts are others willing to sit through before getting there too? 2 more? 3? More?
