  1. Banuelos Ks the side
  2. I don't really think they are stop gaps. To me, a stop gap is just plugging holes where needed and hoping they work. Here, I think they are holding down positions until the spects are ready. I don't know about you but i would much rather Jay be in that lineup than Engel and have Engel be a late inning defensive replacement. When Eloy gets here, you get him in Left, Jay in center and Palka in right with Leury being a nice platoon piece if he's healthy. Bench of Garcia, Engel, (defense primarily), Rondon and later in the season, Seby. Not too shabby all things considered.
  3. Sounds like Oakland game is going over much more smoothly...
  4. Not sure but whoever it is I definitely wouldn't mind listening to them all season...
  5. I may be wrong but i think they changed him to a reliever when he moved to Charlotte
  6. Not gonna lie, i really like the commentators...
  7. Lets see what Fulner has changed...other than his hair
  8. One word: Rebuild. I wonder what this graph would look like a few years ago when the Astros were rebuilding, or the Royals, or the Cubs. Not really sure what else you expected. Over a decade of losing will do that. The goal here, and the whole reason we are rebuilding right now, is to get out of that cellar and get some sustainable success. Consistent winning is the only thing that will reignite the excitement of the wider fanbase.
  9. Good idea. Maybe I'll do that. For what its worth, im as disappointed about Machado than anyone. Am i pissed? No. Whats the point. I really dont understand how people let the decisions of the front office of a sports team consume their lives so drastically.
  10. Roach will pitch like, what, 2 innings, maybe 3? Its the first game of spring training and its split squad, not opening day. Cry me a river.
  11. I personally think Lopez develops into an TOR starter this year. If he and Dunning pan out and Gio doesnt, the trade is still a win IMO.
  12. Any prospect that might boom in the next couple years? Basabe? Rutherford? Dunning? Gonzales? Bush? Madrigal? That Adam Eaton comment doesn't make sense in the context you're giving me.
  13. Like I said, people will always find a way to find the negative in things. Even with this mega free agency class that's coming, free agency isn't everything. They will still have trade options as well, which we full know trades are Hahn's specialty (except for Tatis obv). Other options I'm sure will become available, such as those on the international market or those we are not even capable of knowing right now.
  14. Sorry it took so long but here ya go. Feast your eyes... https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-free-agents-for-2020-2021-and-2022/c-302396056 "If all the players in line for free agency in the 2021-22 offseason actually reached the open market, it might be one of the best classes ever"
  15. Which honestly doesn't suprise me as we are right in the thick of a rebuild. The only way this team is going to gain fans is by consistently winning. With that, they are making the sacrifice of losing fans by rebuilding. Losing more now to hopefully gain more in the future.
  16. But you have no idea if they won't sign at all. There are still some big free agent classes coming. Just because they failed to convert on this one (like Hahn said might happen) doesn't mean they won't spend a significant amount of money here in the near future.
  17. Look, the Sox have dug themselves in this hole by the awful seasons they have had over the last decade plus. This whole Machado debacle is definitely magnified times a million by the results of the decisions that have been made by the front office. My point is, people will find something to get angry about. They will b**** and whine and b**** some more about something "stupid" the front office did. Guess what, at the end of the day, how many fans they didn't already have are they really losing after not getting him? Maybe they've lost out on some they might have gained, but when you really get down to it, we are all staying. We are all going to be here on Opening Day just as excited as ever, looking forward to Eloy Day. No one is leaving because of someone the Sox never got and really weren't even expected to get until, what, November 2018? Sorry, this whole thing is just stupid. They are still rebuilding, they will still be a couple years away from contention with or without him. Enjoy the process. Watch guys like Anderson and Moncada develop into their potentials. There will be more free agent additions in the future. Just because this one guy, who yes I UNDERSTAND is a generational talent, doesn't sign, doesn't mean that there won't be future additions that ultimately make this future team a champion. We need to stop acting like Machado was our savior. In my opinion, the only way Hahn deserves to be ridiculed and fired is if, and ONLY if, this rebuild totally flops. And that is AT LEAST 3-5 years away.
  18. If the Sox signedManny Machado to that contract he wanted and he comes here and absolutely flops, there would be the same amount of outrage with the front office as they are getting right now.
  19. This is so accurate. It took many many seasons for those teams to finally get to winning...we are in what, just beginning year 3? Its not time yet...
  20. What a whiny bunch. You guys need women so bad.
  21. I think its safe to say fan morale is at like rock bottom...not sure what is worse, this Machado situation or the Drake LaRoche debacle and that whole 2016 season.
  22. Not really worried about it...but i am coonscientious of there is actually a limited amount of money and i am of the mind that Jerry is not just stuffing it in his pockets, but is really trying in his mind to do what is best for the team
  23. Not denying he would accelerate the rebuild. What i am saying is he is not worth that kind of money. How the hell do we know what kind of money they have? Yeah, the payroll is very low right now. They can definitely afford him now. Maybe they are projecting out what they should expect to spend in the future to complete this team via trades and free agency and taking on other big contracts, and commiting that much money to one guy would hinder that. As much of a superstar and generational talent as he might be, this game is not just about one player. See, Angels with Trout, Nats with Harper, Orioles with Manny, W Sox with Sale, plenty of others. Im sure that shit adds up quick. Even top money team, cough Cubs cough, are coming out and saying they cant afford these guys and they have no money left. Let's see who else the Sox sign and trade for as this rebuild continues and grows deeper.
  24. Honestly, i dont care who you are, no one is worth a 10 year 300 million dollar contract. I get it, hes 26 years old. Talent level through the roof. Say he blows out his knees and isnt the same player for the next 5 years. That contract looks real dumb. Risk is too big for me. And Look at who signed him. A team that is reportedly in debt already and shouldnt really be able to afford these kinds of deals. Sounds like someone in the Padres FO is incompetent at managing finances, which is mindblowing because who have they had in recent years that would even justify them being in debt at all?
