Rick Renteria Signs Contract Extension, length unknown
I don't understand why this is the end of the world for some people. It's not like Terry Francona or Joey Cora or Joe Maddon would've done any better with that crew. Give him better players and see what he can do. I bet his managerial style changes when he gets a good team. Remember what he did with that one Cubs team (2013?) they were supposed to be awful and he had them near .500 like midway through the season. Listen to the man talk. He's a good leader, and he knows how to communicate with the players, they listen to him, they like him, and he speaks fluent Spanish, which is like what half of the team? It's a helluva lot better situation than if we had Ventura running this thing.

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
But if you really think about it, these guys are both 26, and if they are gonna get 10 year deals, if they are realistic in their thinking, they are gonna have some rough seasons where they don't make the post-season or barely hit .500 as a team, no matter who they sign with. It's inevitable. Whether it's at the beginning of their term, in the middle, or at the end. So, again, if they are thinking right, can you convince them to be patient for a couple more seasons until the payoff hits in probably 2021-2022, where this team is supposed to be good for at least 5-6 years?

Rebuild
No players are without their flaws.

Rebuild
I wonder if the Astros or Cubs or even Royals for that matter had any doubts about the rebuild similar to the ones many have with our rebuild at this stage.

White Sox Hiring for Analytics Department
You might want to get rid of the "fire Renteria and Steverson Now" mantra at the bottom of your posts first lol

Sox Exercise Jones Option @ $4.65M; Buyout Shields
I thought so too, but really, I think the Sox would rather erase as many memories and pieces from that dreadful 2013-2016 stretch as possible. Shields, while he may not be a bad choice to eat up innings, is also Hahn's worst deal in his career as Sox GM. I also think that they would be better served for the interest of the fans to go find someone else to take the ball every 5th day.

So is no one falling on the sword for 2018?
Thanks for sharing. This is very insightful information and, as a married/childless 24 year old man, I am astonished at how parents think they know what is the very best for their kids and demand it be so...like is this for you or your child? Winning at a non-professional level is not everything. Learning and proper development is. I am glad there are coaches out there like you.

Eduardo Escobar signs with the DBacks for 3 years 21 million
I guess I didn't even realize he was with AZ in 2018...thought he was still with the Twins.

Eduardo Escobar signs with the DBacks for 3 years 21 million
I thought it was I thought signings weren't even allowed to happen until after the world series and then the period where teams get exclusive negotiating rights with players who are free agents but were on their teams the previous season?

Young graduates: who can step forward in 2019?
Here's what this team needs from their current young future core...first and foremost they need a full solid healthy year out of Rodon. He is the future ace of this staff, and if you're one of the people who think he's going to be traded, then they need him to be healthy to be traded. Anderson needs to show his defensive improvements last year were not a fluke, and he needs to hit for more power and be more selective with his pitches if he isn't going to be an on-base guy...too bad we can't utilize his speed on the bases more. I do like how he is becoming a clubhouse leader and how he's more interactive with the fans, and his optimism. Moncada, we all know his issues, his first full year was obviously a rough one. Yes, he needs to stop striking out, we all know that. His defense is fine But when he gets his pitches, he needs to actually hit them. Swing the bat. Moncada was great with RISP last year, especially with bases loaded. Would be nice to see Palka have a 40 homerun season with 100 RBIS and maybe a .260 average and a .340 obp. I think he is capable of that line, if he does that, there is our future DH. I think Avi is gone after next year...if he tears it up in the first half I think they should trade him to a contender...too injury prone for my liking and I don't want him blocking the likes of Basabe or Rutherford (who might end up getting packaged in a future trade anyway). I think Lopez will have a breakout year and be right up there with the best starters in the game. Maybe not Sale,Verlander,Kluber -esque, but next level I could definitely see. I don't have much optimism for Giolito, but hopefully he can learn how to pitch differently effectively without that 97 mph heater he once had. We've seen flashes of a gorgeous 12-6 curve and beautiful movement with the circle change, but he's gotta harness his control if he's gonna be successful long-term. Unfortunately, Engel is our CF for 2019. There just isn't anyone else (I really hope Leury gets the starting nod for CF out of spring training.). My guess is that Delmonico is the one that gets cut when they bring Eloy up. Which is unfortunate, because Delmonico's clubhouse presence is great, but his on-the-field quality just doesn't play at a major league level. It was fun while it lasted. Would also be nice to see the bullpen guys solidify themselves as major league quality, Hamilton, Fry (who probably already has), Frare. A full healthy year out of Jones wouldn't hurt either.

Game 162
How awesome would it be for the Brewers to win the division at the last game of the season and the Cubs to lose the wild card game.

Sox have "flexibility" to add "long term pieces"
Here's the bottom line. None of us have gone through this before, or, if you were around in the early 90s, it's been a long time. From everything I am hearing from the professionals, this shit takes TIME. It is ALL a waiting game. None of us know how it's going to pan out, which players will succeed and which ones won't. Sure, as fans, we want to see better product on the field, and seeing multiple losing seasons in a row sucks. Guess what, WE DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW THIS TEAM. WE DON'T DESERVE ANYTHING. We CHOOSE to buy into the White Sox product. We CHOOSE to watch this shit day in and day out. We don't have to. Anyone with brains knows that this rebuilding thing is going to take 4-5 years before we see them at least start to contend, especially with the injuries in 2018. We can b**** about what happened with the moves made back in 2007, or 2009, or 2010, or 2011, or 2013, or 14, or 15, or 16. But guess what, none of it matters. We are where we are now, we are going for SUCK another year, probably hovering around .500 in 2020, and then hopefully win the division in 2021. So until then, quit b****ing about it. But who the hell knows? We might catch lightning in a bottle next year! Now, it would be foolish to hang your hat on that, but it could happen. We also might not win anything until 2025. Get excited about the players in the minors. They raked this year. People like Rutherford and Basabe showed real promise. And not to mention Cease and Eloy. Sure, there were a few setbacks, like with Hansen, but there is so much more the be excited about.

9/24- Indians vs Sox, 7:10
Yeah, getting sick of these umpires and their personal strikezones.

9/24- Indians vs Sox, 7:10
Man I long for the seasons where we can be excited about September/October baseball again. Playing the Indians and Cubs, 2 teams with a good chance to make it to the Series, over a span of a few weeks doesn't help any...

Kopech had TJS on September 18th
So would the arm slot just be the aspect of it that hurts the arm?

Davidson/Palka
I have a hunch the Sox will wait to call up Jimenez until like mid-late May so it doesn't look like they kept him down for service time matters.
