  1. It will be good to have him on the roster the rest of the season with callups happening Saturday. He won't have to keep going up and down. I really like his play, kind of reminds me of a 2016 (15?) Trayce Thompson, with less power.
  2. Sox history might be dismal compared to some of the other great teams, but I wonder if being a part of a new era on an original team that is supposed to win multiple championships like it hasn't done in history ever is just as compelling as going to a team that has great history, like the Yankees.
  3. We will know if it is service time or not come September. Right now I think he is being held down until September Call-Ups so they don't have to make a decision on Palka/Delmonico. If he isn't called up during those first few days in September after Charlotte's season ends, then we will know which is which.
  4. Yeah, he had a big jump with that 6.7 million dollar contract he won last year. With his injuries this year though and the way he has played, unless he turns it up in September, his play hasn't really warranted a big raise. Maybe he goes to 7 mil? But that .234/.266(!!)/.432 slash line doesn't look very nice...not to mention a -.3 WAR. Ultimately, I think injuries screwed him over, but he just isn't the player he was last year. He isn't hitting the ball up the middle/the other way as much which is what got him most of his success last year, contributing to that ungodly BABIP. I think in 2020 we see Eloy take over in RF, with Robert getting the call later in the year in center and maybe Basabe in LF.
  5. A lot of people have spoken about who will be the odd man out when Eloy comes up, specifically Davidson, Delmonico or Palka... What's tough about this, is I think a lot of people are kind of done with the Davidson experiment (I know I am). Palka seems to be a legitimate 40 hr guy, and a left-handed hitter to boot, and Nicky, well, I'm not sure we really know what his ceiling is yet. But, Jimenez doesn't play 3B or 1B (Davidson's positions), he plays corner OF (Nicky/Palka's positions). I'd like to know everyone's thoughts on this particular predicament. I for one think the Sox will go with one less pitcher in the pen and have 4 bench guys, so, when healthy, I think our roster will look like this (if you think the Sox will hold Eloy until end of April, pretend this is the end of April roster...): Starters: 1B Jose 2B Moncada 3B Yolmer SS Anderson LF The Bessssss CF Engel/Leury RF Avi C Narvaez/Castillo DH Palka (vs. RHP) or Davidson (vs. LHP) Bench: OF/IF Leury or OF Engel C Castillo/Narvaez LF/RF/1B Delmonico LF/RF Palka or 3B/1B Davidson Pretty much the same exact roster as this year, again, when healthy. I don't think they make any big position-player splashed in free agency this off-season. I also think 2019 is Avi's last year in a Sox uniform. Also kind of hoping Engel's recent hot streak is indicative of him growing as a major league hitter, and maybe he can hit for a .260 average and walk some more. With that speed and defense, that would be more than serviceable. Thoughts?
  6. Right, I guess I didn't know how much the option was. That's the real point I'm trying to get at, what are everyone's thoughts on the likelihood that he returns next season, or are we going to try Adams or Stephens in that 5th starter spot? Or can Rodon live up to the role of experienced veteran, because that's what he will be relative to the rest of the guys on the staff.
  7. What are the odds they exercise the club option on Shields' contract and put him as the 5th man to start the year until Cease gets the call, while putting Adams and/or Stephens in the pen in place of Hector?
  8. Ah yep those are the ones. Didn't realize they were blue
  9. I feel like they had one a long time ago, with pinstripes.
  10. I mean compared to this past weekend when they had the player jerseys...
  11. Not gonna lie, it's nice seeing the Sox back in those black uniforms
  12. This week, regardless of the record, I feel will either be very fun or very not fun. Recent play would suggest the former...but ya know...Yanks and Red Sox. I for one want to see Palka go deep at least twice the next few days with that short porch in NY.
  13. Anyone else notice how shitty the grass at Comerica looks? Was at the game last night and it looked awful, and it's obvious on TV too...
  14. 91 mph change lol...that's faster than Mark Buehrle's fastball.
  15. He's on a hot streak. Was at the game last night and they said something like 4 homeruns last 7 games
  16. My name is big Palka, and I hit dingers.
  17. Omar needs to get playing time over Castillo next year with this bat. What a year for him. Best offensive player we have other than Abreu right now.
  18. Beautiful dart right there. Although I'm still trying to figure out how that first pitch wasn't a called strike when that pitch that was almost in the dirt to Yolmer was...
  19. Avi just having a rough year. Unfortunately I think the fragility of his body will prevent him from ever reaching his long term potential.
  20. To be fair, when Thome had his ceremony, that game started late as well.
  21. Like, who ever intentionally digs this up needs to get a life.
  22. Soo 2019 rotation of Rodon Kopech Lopez Giolito annddd...Stephens? Covey? Adams? FA?
  23. Why didn't the Tigers trade him for prospects? Like, I know nothing about him, like his age or contract situation, except that he is a freaking good veteran baseball player on a rebuilding team.
