My wife is getting pissed as I sit here and hit refresh, refresh, refresh. Waiting for news.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Ahhh, two hours and we can close this s*** pile of a forum down. Yea, 2 more hours and I will start my Sox can still get Griffey thread.

Uribe is playing better lately, maybe San Fran thinks they can compete with Bonds and Uribe
-
Vizquel > Huff for this year's Sox Why? Vizquel > Uribe Vizqel can bat #2 and allow Iguchi to hit away. I'd love to see what Iguchi's average is with Pods on 1st vs. Pods not on. When he gives up those strikes, he's much worse. Being new in the league, he needs those strikes. Iguchi can be way better if allowed to be aggressive. Therefore, if Vizqel is on the team, Iguchi > than Iguchi was. Uribe > Ozuna, Blum, or Wille as Utility Huff is a better hitter and I'd be happy to get him, but Ozzie would have to juggle him in the lineup.
-
Isn't Meaux the guy the Sox traded a year or two ago and then got him back this year via waivers or rule 5 or something. If so, Blum for someone off of waivers is pretty good.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Three hours left. Crap, we're standing pat, aren't we? Either no moves or there are some serious games of chicken. Someone's gotta blink right?
-
Maybe Offman might have better access to Sox scoops because the WSCR is the new home of the Sox in 2006. That might make him more of an insider than he was.
-
How long after the deadline does news of deals trickle out. I mean, if 5 minutes before the end of the deadline KW gives up on his top 6 plans and goes for plan g, how long might that news take to come out? What time can I give up trade hopes?
-
Lugo can hit. avg .298 obp .354 slg .392 with 30 sb. I don't know how well he can handle the bat, but he sounds better than Willie or Ozuna.
-
Earlier I suggested the Sox get Lugo in the trade if they have to give up so much for Baez and Huff. I didn't really see that happening, it was more of my way of saying go for it all this year and heck with prospects. Well, DrGiggles just posted this link on WSI 620 WDAE Devil Rays rumors
-
Hey, Offer Ben Davis back to his old team SD and get Olivo back.
-
Plan on the Sox giving BMac, Gio, Anderson, Sweeney, and Fields for just Huff. That way, when the Sox part with just 3-4 top prospects for Huff and Baez it will seem less shocking.

DANYS BAEZ, 28 AGE: 27. B/T: R/R. HT/WT: 6-3/225. BORN/LIVES: Pinar Del Rio, Cuba/Miami. HOW ACQUIRED: Signed as a free agent in January 2004. CONTRACT STATUS: $3.5-million in second year of two-year, $6.5-million deal; Rays hold $4-million option for 2006 with $1-million buyout. PROJECTED ROLE: Closer. DID YOU KNOW?: Baez converted 30 of 33 save opportunities. His .909 save percentage was fourth in the American League and seventh in the majors.
-
Clarification: 4-5 prospects for Huff, Baez, and Lugo. Assuming that the price for Huff and Baez is 3-4 prospects. Seriously though, I'd be thrilled with just Huff.
-
Why not give them 4-5 prospects and get Lugo to replace Willie. Phillies rumored going after Baez. KW going after Baez. Baez and the rest of the Sox good prospects for Wagner? Go for it KW.
-
Who would you rather have playing 3rd if Crede is injured, Ozuna or Mackowiak? It's not a shocking blockbuster move, but it would make an already good team slightly better.
-
From the various rumors I speculate that: Plan A Clemons Plan B Schmidt Vizquel Plan C Wagner Plan D Burnett Lowell Plan E Huff Baez Plan A will not happen If Plan B goes through, Sox are set. If Plan C happens, Sox trade for Mackowiak (especially if Crede is in the trade) If Plan D happens, Keep Lowell and use Burnett to make plan C happen If Plan E happens probably nothing else will I think we will most likely end up with plan F. KW is not predictable. If Uribe, AJ, ARow, and Dye swinging the bat better, the Sox will be OK whatever move they make. It's been fun having the Sox be part of all of the rumors.
-
Any other Brewers the Sox could be scouting and the media has assumed it is Overbay?
-
Would the Brewers want Lowell? At a salary that Florida and the Sox are paying part of? I'd love to see KW's plans.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Gammons said that Burnett said that if he's traded to the White Sox he won't sign an extension with us, but he would if he's traded to Boston. News to me. I don't trust Gammons when Boston is involved. -
Score update said that Frank is very disapponted in the progress with his ankle and is going to go back and see the doctor who did his surgery. He will also have more tests.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) This was what DeLuca wrote today in the Sun Times...if anything, this team needs a backup for Hermanson, not another starting pitcher. Even one of the other guys discussed here won't give us that. KW will still be shopping. Here is his list so far. Right handed bat off bench... check. Backup for Crede's back... check. More pitching for Ozzie... check. Someone who can pitch long relief... check Big Bat in case Frank can't perform... One more reliable arm in bullpen... Vizquel at short Uribe to utility... Order World Series Rings... He still hasn't really spent JR's money yet.

Are the radio guys saying Contreras is part of the deal or not?
