Can anyone tell me why a DFA candidate is batting 5th in our batting order?

It's not ALL bleak, but when it comes to the big moves like Swisher, like Dunn, like LaRoche, we've had far more hits than misses. Gordon Beckham and Dayan Viciedo come to mind instantly as well. It's just a confluence of different factors, bad luck, scouting, development. Sometimes you wonder if Don Cooper having so much influence (and tenure) in the organization hasn't led to a self-fulfilling prophecy where more of our resources are being allocated to pitching (certainly the case in 2006) and not enough to balance it out with the offense. More money going into players like Sale, Rodon, Danks, Fulmer, etc., you expect to see some results. Well Thompson might be for real but Frazier has probably been our best hitter, fills a big need at 3B, and there's no one in our system who projects to take over at 3B anytime soon. I still think it was a great trade. Thompson might be getting good pitching matchups which could influence his stats some because he doesn't play every day.

At this point I'm guessing we do something like trade for Santana and Bruce without giving up any of our top prospects. We could potentially add Anderson later in the season if he stays consistent so it would be like 3 upgrades. On a side note who is Nicky Delmonico? He's pretty much dominating for us in AA right now 23 y/o .338 avg 10 hr and 31 rbi through 142 ab's
