Interesting that Madrigal and Mazara aren't in the line-up against the cubs. I was hoping to see more of them in the few Spring games where winning at least has some importance to the fans.

I would wait until after the 2020 MLB Draft to see how things go with Grandal and McCann and to see if the Sox can Draft catching prospect Patrick Bailey. then the path to the future would be clearer, since Collins will be 26 next season and 30 years old after Grandal's contract ends. Perhaps McCann is the ideal back-up catcher since he has proven that he can excel if he is not overused and worn down. Collins has trade value since he is under control for several years. If any team expresses interest in McCann why wouldn't they also inquire on Collins? Has he become an untouchable? I don't think so.

Comcast is one of the monopolies in the country that has gotten out of control. I'm not sure how long to it will take for people to demand that the government not only increase regulations on them, but start to break them up so consumers can benefit from real marketplace competition. I wanted to limit the control that Comcast had on my billing and services (especially since they are the ONLY broadband cable choice where I live) so I decided to only use Comcast for high speed internet and then to use Hulu Live TV for things like cable news, Sportschannel, etc. Then I found out that Comcast owns Hulu. I guess I may switch to YouTube TV . They are a subsidiary of another monopoly, Google, but I think they have MLBTV in their standard package.

OK, I'll buy into the Garfien love for Mercedes. I suppose that if Madrigal starts at second on Opening day the 26th roster spot might be open for a third string catcher/pinch hitter. Sox trivia: In the mid-sixties, the Sox had a second string catcher who was used in that role - Smokey Burgess. He did not have power but he was a clutch hitter. That kept him in the league until he was 40 years old. If Mercedes keeps dropping bombs on the outfield knoll at Camelback, maybe just maybe he finally makes it to the bigs. I have Madrigal starting on OD. If that is what happens then Mendick might not be needed on the roster. So the bench I have is McCann, Leury, Engel and whoever wins the 26th spot in Spring Training.

Mercedes v Collins is a moot point. Neither one has any business on our 2020 roster.

Nice talk bud. But yes, I think what the millionaire players on the Astros did was far worse than what the working class 1919 White Sox did. Some of the 1919 White Sox were afraid of what might happen to them if they did not comply with the plan. The Blackstros scheme lasted for more than a year. Unlike the 1919 White Sox scandal, the "Stros have a world series championship at the expense of another team and at the expense of all fans of baseball.

It's a good move, and has nothing to do with cheating and the average fan will not connect the two what-so-ever. The 1919 Black Sox had nothing to do with cheating ? They threw the World Series, that's all.

Northside72: OK, you convinced me that Mercedes is next to worthless. Given that we can't have it both ways, unless some team thinks an empty "beer can" is worth something in trade. ;-) Meanwhile, some of us think still think Collins could make it as a starting mlb catcher even though he has lingered in the Minors for 4 years. So we talk him up and he may have trade value. We do not need Collins as a starting catcher for several years....if he even works out. Meanwhile we could Draft a catcher like Patrick Bailey in this years mlb Draft to possibly take over when Grandal's contract nears its end.

Collins is only 25 years old and has more trade value than Mercedes given the hype about Collins since he was Drafted 4 years ago. Mercedes is the perfect under the radar minor league catcher who can be called up in case of an injury to McCann or Grandal . Mercedes would be beyond grateful to fill that emergency role and wouldn't constantly squawk about not getting a chance to be on the major league roster.

Unfortunately, I . for one. am not satisfied by Dallas Keuchel's response or with any other Astro player who will not tell us everything that they knew about the cheating. So, did Dallas see the buzzers? Who was involved with relaying signs from the dugout? The Astros have to come clean. This thing isn't going to go away until they do.
