  1. The Sox line-up in 2020 with Leury Garcia looks very balanced between speed and power. Leury followed by Tim Anderson has been working out lately. I like LG as a lead-off hitter. He takes a lot of pitches and is not that easy to strike out. Plenty of speed and arm strength. He gets better if you leave him in one position. He is not a big home run banger but you need a few guys who can get on base , steal, run the bases, and not strike out 200 times as they swing for the fences. There is plenty of power in a line-up with TA, Moncada, Abreu, McCann, Eloy and a DH. Leury Garcia RF Tim Anderson SS Luis Robert CF Jose Abreu 1B Eloy Jiminez LF Yoan Moncada 3B James McCann C Madrigal or Yolmer 2B DH ?

    Uh...Eloy?

Eloy he is taller, faster and has more reach than Kyle Schwhaber who is a liability at any position. Anyone who dismisses Eloy's potential given his age and lack of major league experience must have some other agenda.
  3. The Walton and Bennetti game - the most annoying sports broadcast in history. An excellent baseball game ruined for true fans of the game. Giolito was awesome. McCann, Leury Garcia, Tim Anderson, Bummer... The Sox win and the Pirates walking off the Cubs ....made my night.
  4. Strange game. Yolmer's 3 run error ends up being the difference,
  5. Losing Rodon and Kopech for the year kind of hurt the rotation. If both come back on their respective timetables things may not be as dire in 2020 as some anticipate.
  6. Black Jack is as boring as Stone but he would be one of the more obvious choices , at least as a temp. replacement. Time for Stone to retire.
  7. How about a dose of reality for Steve Stone ? Hey thanks for the memories. You have now been promoted to a Sox Ambassador, whatever that is, or maybe you can rejoin the Cub organization if that is how you wish to finish and be remembered. Black Jack McDowell is replacing you as the color announcer for the White Sox effective after the season ends.
  8. If he can still hit 100 mph maybe he can be the Closer.
  9. Eloy is still developing physically. He seems to be adding muscle mass rather than fat. His skills as an outfielder seem to be improving, even during the short time he has been in the majors. Eloy has made plays at the outfield wall that were aided because of his height and reach. He has made numerous plays on balls hit in front of him where he slide to get them and IMO, it is ridiculous to conclude that Eloy will not develop into a serviceable outfielder given his age and physical make-up. He is not a stocky dude like Schwarber or Viciedo and never will be. He is going to be our left fielder for many years but that won't stop some including cub fans from trying to diss him every time he makes an error or sustains a bruise. Come on people, Eloy is a gaddamn stud....the prototypical LFer who can rake but isn't going to be get every ball or have the arm of a RFer. Eloy and Robert will make a dynamic outfield combo for YEARS to come.
  10. Tilson should have been instructed by Renteria that his primary job in CF was to call for fly balls and above all else, to avoid colliding with Eloy.
  11. Large sample size: Collins has had 1,088 at bats in the minors over a four year period with a combined .234 batting average. He had a high OPS but that would not translate with major league pitchers. Collins is a pretty big dude at 6'3" and North of 220. He has slow reactions behind the plate . Collins has zero value as a DH but could be a back-up catcher for a team that needs one. He could be a secondary piece in a trade.
  12. Collins is never going to beat out McCann so no big deal.
  13. I would offer prospects like Blake Rutherford, Steele Walker or even Zack Collins for a decent starting pitcher. Madrigal should be brought up now so Leury can play Right Field and Yolmer short until TA comes back. Robert should have been brought up after the All star break. They are wasting his time in the minors. I still want the Sox to win as many as they can this season.
  14. I doesnb't matter how many minor league at bats a minor league player has..it just doesn't. And it doesn't matter if Madrigal hits home runs. That is not his game.
  15. Polka hit some of those against pitchers that were brought up by clubs from the minors at the end of the year or against pitchers whose teams were out of play-off contention and making vacation plans for the off-season. He's swinging at air this year. He can't play defense, even at first base. DFA him and don't look back,.
  16. Leury is an every day player. He can hit for average, has speed on the bases, has a gun for an arm, and can lead off. Benetti said that he had about as many base hits as Castellanos does this year. I'd bring up Robert and have Eloy, Robert and Leury as the starting outfield for the rest of this year and to start 2020, No reason to give Palka another 60 AB's in the majors while Robert is held back. Leury is good enough where the Sox can wait for an internal option (Basabe, Rurherford, Walker,,) to develop and replace him down the road, if necessary. I would bring Madrigal up to play second, Rendon at short (until TA comes back) and Leury in RF. Stop switching Leury between infield and outfield.
  17. Palka should be released before the cub series. Who is in charge of talent evaluation? Palka doesn't even look like a major league baseball player. Call up Robert and Madrigal. Oh, good riddance to Fulmer. Enough is enough with him as well.
  18. Indoor TV antennas are around $15 and are unobtrtusive, even at an office desk .
  19. How could this dude have been taken in the first round? Did Hostetler even watch any vides of this guy? Has anyone in the Chicago sports media questioned Hostetler about this pick? Burgur has not been able to control his weight. He lacks balance, flexibility and speed. And then the Sox take Vaughn who profiles the same way.
  20. Despaigne will be released tonight.
