  1. The games he pitched (1 out of 5) will now be in question.
  2. QUOTE (Saufley @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) Mark and others, If the Sox don't get an "anchor player" for Sale what could they get in return for Quintana? Any chance the Sox start throwing his name out there to see what he would get in return? Great thought. In other words, if the Sox are only getting pitching prospects (and some with damaged arms) and a bucket of balls for Sale, then keep him and make some other trades, including possibly Quintana, Frazier, Abreu, Roberton and Eaton. So, yes, there has to be an anchor position player if they trade Sale, or he stays for the time being. My opinion is that Dombrowski will have the last dibbs on Sale and may have told that to Hahn. Washington is spinning their wheels if they think they can get Sale and Cutch without giving up Turner and Robles. I am intrigued by a possible 3 team deal with Pittsburgh the Nats and the Sox where the Nats get Sale and Cutch, the White Sox get Turner plus prospects and Pittsburgh gets prospects from both teams. Sox can sweeten the package to Pittsburgh with Carlos Sanchez and Courtney Hawkins. LOL! (Sorry, I'm going bat sheet crazy with all the speculation..) I just want an anchor player back for Sale, i.e., ...Turner, Bregman or Benintendi plus a prospect or two. We may know something on Tuesday....or not. Can't take the suspense much longer.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) Can someone tell me why Washington is so appealing if Turner isn't involved? Giolito has already had TJ and didn't do much of anything at the big league level, and Robles is a 19 year old in A ball. The Sox can't develop a player like him. Turner is a condition precedent to trade talk with the Nationals involving Sale. If he isn't, then it's - " thank you for calling but I have Dave Dumbrowski on the other line."
  4. I would consider Eaton a core layer and not look to trade him. He is the kind of player that is difficult to replace because he brings multiple assets -speed, defense (including an accurate arm from Right field) , on base percentage. There are several players I would trade before him, including Melky and Abreu. Abreu ,might have value to a team like Boston as a DH / first baseman. i think the Sox could either replace him ot fill in with what they have. Zack Collins and Matt Davidson aare two in house options for DH and first base.
  5. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) As have I, It's been mentioned numerous times on air. All the envidence you need for that is in their podcasts. Because you mock something doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't a fan of said thing being mocked. Hating KW or Hawk is pretty common on this board if you've read some of the past threads, so none of those posters are Sox fans?? what good do any of us have to really say about the state of the white sox in the last decade? There's not really a whole lot to go on at the current moment. Does someone have to scream from rooftops until they're lips turn blue that they're a sox fan to prove their fandom? Some people aren't the go-hard fanboys to wear gear all the time. This argument is dumb and doesn't have anything to do with the White Sox, which is what I'd rather talk about anyways . Young Danny B Isn't it curious that people have to claim that he is? I didn't, I just responded with my opinion ....he isn't. You disagree. OK. The state of the White Sox in the last decade? How about the state of the cubs in the last century before they won it in the 9th inning of game 7, against Cleveland? The point is, winning the WS isn't what makes people fans of a team. It's about more than winning or there wouldn't be 30 major league teams in the league. You think there isn't a whole lot to go on now,? I disagree with you on that as well.. I am excited about any possible trades and how they will work out. There has been way too much piling on by critics of the White Sox and too much spiking the ball in the endzone by cub fans. Those of us who are true Sox fans look the other way and look forward to Opening Day 2017.
  6. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) Yes, he is. This has been stated multiple times. Uh, no he isn't...LOL..I have listened to Boars and Bernstein for years . I met Bernstein and had a good talk with him and no he isn't a "Sox fan." He and Boars have mocked the Sox for years and hate Ken Williams and Ken Harrelson. Show me evidence other than Bernstein or someone else simply claiming his is Sox fan. Have you seen him at a game? Have you seen him wearing a Sox hat around town? Heve you ever heard Boars & Bernstein have anything but snark to say about the White Sox? link?
  7. Bernstein isn't a white sox fan. Never has been and never will be. He is a sarcastic wise guyl though. If I am a GM on any team I do not want to deal with Epstein because he wins every trade and will not give up his best prospects and players. That's fine but I don't want to be on the losing end of a trade with the Cubs. I still don't know how they got Addison Russell and Jake Arrieta. for dregach.
  8. The Sox have to try to get one of the untouchable young star position players, some how, some way. E.g., Trade Sale plus Frazier and Eaton to the Nats for Trea Turner plus prospects. , or trade Sale plus Frazier and Nate Jones to Boston for Benintendi and Moncada. or trade Sale plus package to Atlanta for Dansby Swanson plus prospects. The Sox will not blow this thing up completely. They have to come out of this with hope for the future in the minors plus a more exciting young team on the field. By the way, OT, I drove by Sox park yesterday and saw that G Rate sign facing toward the Ryan. Geezus krist...what were they thinking?
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 06:30 PM) Best thing the White Sox could do, is to do the complete opposite of whatever that buffoon says to do He may be a buffoon and you might be much wiser than he is, but Russo hosts a program on mlb network and , in my opinion, at the very least made some valid points which should be considered rather than brushed off. Russo warned that the Sox must consider the timeline to rebuild in terms of the potential loss of interest in the team and lower attendance because of the Cubs. Russo is arguing that the Sox should try to compete every year rather than "running and hiding" for several years only to determine in three or four years, that they are still not competitive. At that point they may have done substantial damage to the franchise, the size of its fan base, and the teams bottom line. I am not cure I agree with all that he said, but the Sox probably should proceed with caution if they are really thinking of blowing the team up and tanking for several years. That strategy might end up hurting the franchise badly.
  10. The Sox value Abreu because of the kind or person and the kind of teammate he has been, and Abreu, on the other hand, appreciates what the the Sox have done for him and wants to remain with this organization (and he has said so on more than one occasion). Because of that, I don't see Abreu being traded unless Boston blows us away with a package so that they can anoint Abreu as the successor to Big Papi.
  11. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) I'm on the other end of the equation. Boston has 3 top 15 guys in Moncada/Benintendi/Devers. 2 more top 30-40 guys in Kopech and Groome. Tons of leftover former elite prospects as throw-ins with Swihart/Owens/Vazquez. If Boston offered me 2 of Moncada/Devers/Benintendi + Kopech or Groome as the 3 headliners, I'm taking it.....Bregman/Tucker/Reed would be close. Urias/Bellinger/De Leon as well. Devers has some of the best hit tool/power potential in the minors. I like your thinking there. I have a feeling that ANY suggested trade for Sale to any team will have to go through Dave Dombrowski who will want last dibbs on him. Dave D gets what he wants usually and he has never been shy about making a trade, even if it is unpopular. He knows that baseball, unlike other tean sports, is built around individual All-Star players, especially the extraordinary talents like Chris Sale. Sale in Fenway would be incredible and DD knows that. And yes, it would take a package with Benintendi/Moncada,/Devers for Sale and Frazier or Jones.
  12. I would not blow this thing up. I agree with Mad Dog Chris Russo. The White Siox cannot run away and hide for a few years and think the Cubs are going away. They have to try to compete every year. It is what it is. Here > Chris Russo
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) I wonder if anyone has asked Rick Renteria how many games he thinks he can win with the lineup constituted as it is, and/or what areas he'd like to improve, or if it can be improved....or can it win the division. I suspect he probably looks at Cleveland and KC and says boys, blow it up. But I'd like to know. I wonder what other teams might have interest in Frazier.
  14. I guess I am one of those who enjoys all the speculation and even suggestions for trades. That is what makes this time of year fun for those of us talking baseball during the winter months. As to the raw speculation about Frazier going to NY, *if* trade talks between the organizations happen at some point, I would think there might be another player or players the Sox might want to package with Frazier, whether as a salary dump (Shields), or to sweeten the deal to get a better return (Nate Jones, Robertson). I don't think the Sox need to start out deciding whether or not Sale will be traded even though that is where all the speculation is centered.
  15. At least one article claims the Yankees may be interested in Frazier.Yanks reportedly interested in Frazier They really want to lose Headley and also may want Frazier's power at DH, so this might make sense for the Yanks. I never considered them as a trading partner so I am not sure what they might agree to send back to the Sox for the Toddfather. This could be good news for Matt Davidson and Saladino but losing Frazier would create a large hole in the White Sox power numbers and continue the annual revolving door at third base.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) That is what they've been doing for the past few seasons. It's not working man. Not when your owner is a cheap bastard. They haven't tried to force a trade. This is a very well thought out plan they're trying to execute. Yes, sir, but you know that line "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry ." Teams now seem to be of this mindset where they covet and will never trade their top tier young players and prospects and will only trade their second tier prospects and players who have injuries or other issues. If that turns out to be the case, then what do we do ? Adding to that...there may no longer be a Draft day pay-off for tanking seasons in an era where there is a race to last so teams can game the system like the Cubs did. So we could be "mired in mediocrity" for longer than any of us anticipated with this rebuilding plan.
  17. At least for one post here, I am going to play devil's advocate or take the position that is contrary to the rebuild/blow-it-up strategy. Reading down several trade suggestions made by posters here, a rebuild appears to provide hope. Then the following posts just shoot down the suggestions, often claiming that the suggestion is ridiculous, that other teams will never give up on players the Sox would want, or that other teams would never overpay for our players. Then there is the reality that several teams, including now the Tigers, are seeking to dump veterans for prospect and acquire other teans top prospects in return. Unfortunately, teams are hanging on to their top prospects choosing to emulate what the Cubs did - accumulate a bevy of young prospects that reach a crescendo at the same time, then salt that roster with veterans through trade or free agency. Complicating the blow-it-up plan further is the plain fact that only the worst three or four teams get the first three or four Draft slots. Too many teams are blowing it up or are bad enough now that it is no longer easy to do what Epstein did, throw a season or seasons and come out with Kris Bryant and Schwarber, So the counterpoint to a major rebuild does have some validity. That is especially the case if the Sox simply cannot find trading partners that are willing to trade guys like Benintendi, Moncada, Trea Turner, Giolito, Urias, etc....not even for an ace pitcher under a great team friendly contract or a guy who hit 40 home runs and is solid defensively. At some point you have to stop trying to force a trade, keep what you have , and try to add to it again.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) If you could even get them to trade Trea Turner - you are not getting more than that. Maybe some INTL prospects or A filler, but you are not getting more than that. I agree, and I for one, am OK with that. I would do that deal right now for a couple of reasons. Number one reason is the chance Sale will blow out his arm and be out for a year with Tommy John. Second, I think Sale may still harbor some bad feelings toward management after the LaRoach fiasco and maybe even from before that. And more that any of that, I think Turner along with Tim Anderson would be a legit core to build a roster from.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Seager isn't getting traded. Trea Turner isn't either. Dodgers and Nationals reportedly inquired. If they want to get an All Star like Sale under a team friendly contract for 3 years, then they have to trade one of their All Star players. That is what Sale is worth. If they only offer a handful of prospects and a couple of mediocre position players, then forget it. We'll keep Sale as our Ace.
  20. It is my own opinion that one young star position player in exchange for Chris Sale would be more valuable than several top prospects. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I would ask the Washington Nationals if they would trade Trea Turner and a pitching prospect for Sale. That is a trade that would change the team immediately as well as for several years to come.
  21. If no team will trade for him, Robertson may not win the Closer role with the White Sox. On the one hand that may be disappointing but on the other, a 7th or 8th inning role may be where his greatest value to the team will be.
  22. Instead of looking at rebuilding by wondering what we could get for certain players, it would be interesting to approach it by affirmatively targeting a player or prospect and then finding out out what that team might accept in return. That is how I would approach things. So, for example, if the Sox want to build a team around young players who can play defense and have speed, then look at some of the best players and see if that team might want Qiuitana or Sale, or some package of players we have. Just selling off pieces and acceptimg another teams dregach (like the Boston trade that was suggested) makes it appear that we are bargaining from a weak position. The Sox were weak, but we have some of the tp pitchers on the market and some decent veterans like Frazier, Robertson, Jones, Mellky and Eaton. I would try to go after a young player with star potential like Trea Turner. He may be untradeable but you never know until you ask.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) Is this song real? Where did you find this? LOL. You can't be much of a Sox fan . or possibly a Sox fan at all,and you must not have gone to any games if you haven't heard "Let's Go White Sox." Baseball is built on tradition and that song has been sung by White Sox fans at games for decades I personally loath the Go Cubz Go song which is inappropriately done in the country genre, notwithstanding the Chicago roots of the song writer. Cubs finally got lucky in extra innings of game 7. One and done. The Ricketts purchased a World Series, but they have now transformed the erstwhile lovable losers into a corporate Disney theme park attraction. Cub themed Disneyland in Wrigleyville
  24. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) The Cubs just drew 340,000 in 8 postseason games. At $150/head (I have no idea) that would be $50 million bucks right there. Should help to pay the $184 Million they owe Heyward. But Joe Ricketts family venture, aka, the Cubs, has hundreds of millions to throw around without any limit on their spending. Unless the league puts in a comprehensive revenue sharing agreement and an enforceable salary cap, there will only be few teams like the Cubs that can afford to compete every year.
  25. I can't wait for the day when posters who write repeated posts about how they have had enough with the White Sox stop posting on Sox message boards, whining b 1tching, and complaining about everything from the ownership, the management , the ballpark, the corporate logo, and even the culture of White Sox fans.
