In August at a campaign stop, Cheney discussed his daughter at great length so it was common knowledge http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...MNGHQ8DV6Q1.DTL

Bush really pissed me off when he started babbling about NCLB. Looking to be a prospective high school teacher, I've had a lot of time in different schools for projects etc., and every school I talk to -- they hate NCLB. Yes, there was an increase in the amount of money spent on education but the part that Bush fails to see -- when he said "only a liberal senator from Massachusetts would say an increase is a failure -- well I'm saying it too George. The fact remains that the NCLB is underfunded. Also, the amount of Pell grants have decreased, not increased. And on terrorism, Bush has slashed the requested FBI budge by 2/3. I also loved the "Kerry voted against the Homeland Security Bill" without mentioning that it raped civil benefits away from workers which is why many people voted against it. I wish Cobb and Badnarik got in to tool these two dumbasses. Perot said it best about the issues in, I believe it was the 1992 debate, "Do you want me to fix it or soundbyte it?"

Jas, the original intent of the media is supposed to be a watchdog and a check against government, not a puppy "Look how great Bush looks with that sock stuffed in his crotch playing Flight Suit Boy!" press fellating his every movement. The myth of the liberal media is absolutely hilarious. At least CNN etc. have reputitable sources running the show, the one for FOX is a former Bush campaign advisor (Fox President Roger Ailes) Fair and balanced my ass. And Jas, studies have been done that show Hannity gets many more words in against Colmes and gets more airtime to speak. Jas, remember when Bush said that Iraqi oil would foot the bill for the invasion? I do...and it's not. Plus most of the $87 billion was going to security measures and not for armor etc. for the troops. Kerry authorized the use of force because most people *gasp* use force as a last means and don't go in guns blazing only to find ZERO WMD after it's all over. (Just 1 year and 190 days in...we knew where they were, so where are they?) Just because Kerry gave Bush the car keys does not mean that he endorsed Bush running the car into a tree at 90 mph. And the tax cuts -- the estate tax hit 2% of the population and will remove $294 billion from the US coffers over the 10 years since it has been repealed (or so say the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities) At around 5% servicing costs per year, that means that after 10 years of borrowing money to offset the estate tax cut, those Americans who still pay taxes will see a permanent $14.7 billion annual increase in their tax bill. They may be pulling in "their fair share" but don't pee on my leg and tell me it is raining saying the majority of the tax cuts went to the middle class when they didn't. (that's to Bush, not you Jas.) With the legality of the Bermuda tax loopholes endorsed by Bunnypants, the tax burden on everybody else goes up to pick up the slack. And Jas with the removal of double taxation, it's not a simple amount but percentage of taxes paid. Warren Buffett said that when he gets back his money and not having to pay capital gains tax, the percentage of tax that he pays compared to his workers is disproportionately low. Why make middle/lower class people pay a higher percentage of their wages while keeping money in the pockets of the ultra rich? Jas:

Actually international media and most people in the media industry found that initial claim to be 100% bunk.

Oh hey I4E, did Israel ever apologize to the humanitarian group that they claimed was transporting missiles in ambulances yet it was proven to be a false claim by the Israeli government? [happened just recently -- Haaretz tore the lie a new asshole] Where's that on Honestreporting.com?

Carville doesn't claim to be impartial. Any moron slightly knowledgeable about politics knows he assisted with Clinton's campaign. As for Bush's cousin working for Faux News in 2000. No station had made a call about Florida -- Fox was the first -- and the polls were still coming back so it was not conclusive. Ailes and he made the call and not wanting to be outscooped, the rest of the media followed suit. And if we want to get technical about partisans being hired in media -- Roger Ailes used to be a high powered member in the Bush election cycle...and he is also the President of FOX News deciding what stories go on the air and how they are spun.

I love how Pell grants have actually decreased yet Bush says they have gone up...and Bush did make that comment saying in March 2003, when asked by a CNN commentator about bin Laden, Bush said: "So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. . . . I truly am not that concerned about him."

Michael Moore's movie didn't pre-empt normal broadcasting in prime time -- commercial free. Nice try equating the two but no cigar. It's a partisan hatchet job disguised as "news" (not to mention violates campaign laws) There's a difference between putting it in a movie theater and putting it on national TV when it reaches 25% of the nation's homes. And Nuke, CNN hired Tucker Carlson, Gary Bauer and numerous other Republicans...FOX hires Hannity and numerous contributers to the Republican party -- yet you seem to think they are "fair and balanced". And Nuke, With whining about TV...the Republicans would never get their panties in a twist about stuff like that, especially an actual factual documentary about the Reagans that was going to be on TV...Oh wait.

I don't know who has heard about this: Sinclair Broadcasting Group is the largest TV station owner in the country. Their programming reaches at least 1/4 of all U.S. households, making them an extremely powerful gatekeeper of information. Yet Sinclair has repeatedly abused that power. A few months ago, Sinclair forbade its ABC affiliates from airing a Nightline tribute to American soldiers slain in Iraq, saying it was anti-war propaganda. After 9/11, the company demanded that their stations express allegiance to the Bush administration on the air. Now, they are forcing all of their affiliates to show a Kerry smear film called "Stolen Honor" 2 weeks before the election in prime time-- commercial free. This is pre-empting normal programing on over 62 affiliates and will reach 23% of the nation's households. Sinclair's broadcasts of news are not local but done from hundreds of miles away and pumped in plus they are forced to have the ultra-conservative commentary of their resident wingnut, Mark Hyman. Whether Sinclair does this in support of conservatives or liberals is not the issue. The issue is a billion-dollar corporation shunning journalistic standards in order to advance its political agenda. It is a threat to the integrity of our democracy and it must be stopped. I f***ing hate media conglomeration. :fyou

Prove a person didn't say something? WTF? What source would run a story like "Konerko Doesn't Say Important Thing!"? This reasoning is like saying "I have a civilization of invisible unicorns in my pants. You can't prove otherwise so I must be right."

1. It is revenue for the state. 2. Non-violent drug offenders with a personal amount are harming nobody. I fail to see how putting them in prison for drug offenses helps to cure them from wanting to do drugs -- if anything it makes them do more drugs. 3. It frees up space in prisons. Due to mandatory minimum sentencing laws, non-violent drug offenders are forced to stay their entire sentences while prisons all over are being forced to parole violent offenders (rape, murder, robbery etc). 4. It frees up police resources. Instead of going after people with personal amounts (In 2002: out of the 697,082 drug arrests for marijuana...613,986 were for simple possession) http://www.drugwarfacts.com/marijuan.htm Police can focus on violent criminals and not waste their time with a person who wants to laugh a lot and eat some snacks. 5. Taxpayers annually spend between $7.5 billion and $10 billion arresting and prosecuting individuals for marijuana violations. Almost 90 percent of these arrests are for marijuana possession only. 6. In 1977, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter: "Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana in private for personal use." 7. There is no evidence that any prohibition laws actually cuts the amount of people smoking marijuana and there is no evidence that decriminalization leads to greater consumption of marijuana in areas where it is decriminalized (see studies done from the 1980s all the way up to 2000) Good to see that Mayor Daley is thinking good and doing this finally.

FreeRepublic.com said the reason Bush lost the debate was because Kerry's handshake misaligned Bush's tie and also that Kerry had the questions beforehand (with no evidence backing it up)

Goldmember, the story is that they went ahead and published a fake story being idiots...the same as Dan Rather (whose head they want on a silver platter)

FOX apologized for it and removed the fake story. http://www.buzzflash.com/analysis/04/10/ana04019.html has more coverage of it as well.

Saw on the FOX game that the Cubs are 1st in the NL in Home Runs but near the basement in walks, on base percentage etc. -
http://www.news.com.au/common/story_page/0...2^13762,00.html Fox News apologised today for posting phoney quotes from US Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on its website. Carl Cameron, a Fox reporter who covers the Kerry campaign, wrote an item that had looked like a news story but had made-up Kerry quotes, said Paul Schur, a Fox spokesman.

Why wouldn't our "allies" support war in Iraq
LowerCaseRepublican replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in SLaM
If you put Kurdistan slaughter into Google, there are plenty of links discussing trials where this was brought up as evidence. It's not a baseless charge, it's common knowledge. -

Perhaps you haven't seen their slaughter of the Kurds (aka the destruction of 3000+ villages known as Kurdistan using the US sold weapons) and the only way they would assist in condemning Hussein for his Kurd murdering was getting a guarantee that the US wouldn't go after them for murdering mass amounts of Kurds. But nice try.
