Well, actually the Bush I admin. didn't want to get involved in Gulf War I. April Glaspie (ambassador there) told Iraq that the US had no opinion on the Iraq/Kuwait border dispute -- and that was the opinion of the Bush regime until they saw that an "easy" war against a 3rd world army would boost Bush I approval ratings and also get rid of "Vietnam syndrome"

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/19/...iraq/index.html Robertson even said almost the exact same thing on June 22: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5277869

Wanda Sykes is f***ing hilarious...although she doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Lenny Bruce.
-
I agree about Kam's. Murphy's the only campus bar that I'll go to -- you should really make the trek out to the Office...it's f***ing great.

I knew there was a reason why I was going to school to get a history degree.

Most states were afraid of a highly centralized governmental authority (since they just deposed a monarchy) so there were legitimate fears that any highly centralized authority could easily lead to tyranny. http://www.wepin.com/articles/afp/ is a link to some issues argued by Anti-Federalists which will really help your case. Hope that helps.

It's in Urbana on Main Street. It's nice -- approx. 10 mins. from my place and a really nice atmosphere to kick back, relax and drink.

Sweet. Too bad my favorite CU bar [The Office] is not on there. But for people in the CU area, Cafe Hookah kicks major league ass.

So drinking below an arbitrary age is "immoral"? I mean -- a person can smoke cigarettes, view pornography, vote and even be drafted to die for their country at 18...yet they can't have a Captain and Coke legally. That's bulls***. And you can sometimes find things better to do than get drunk but sometimes there are just those special moments of drunk dials and people puking in potted plants that are just precious memories.

I've become a huge fan of rum -- Captain Morgan is my new study buddy Some ice, chilled Captain and cold RC = fun times. As for beers (in no particular order): Labatt Blue, Warsteiner, Pilsner Urquell, Guinness, Bass Ale, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Negra Modelo, Sierra Nevada, Honey Brown, Becks, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. I drink for the taste and on certain nights, for getting absolutely f***ing obliterated. (It's nice having the Captain on hand to get me f***ed up and then just drink PBR to finish the job intead of using good beer, ) Unfortunately I've hit 2 vices now that most of my drinking occurs when I am at a hookah bar smoking my ass off with friends.

Kerry may have "won" the debates......

Nobody said all Bush supporters were intelligent. /sarcasm -
I'm not saying he doesn't have a right to say it -- I am simply saying that if he is concerned about the lowering level of discourse going on then why further lower it with a rant? that was my point. There are other ways to make the same point without the linguistics he used to be perceived as a lot less "b****y"
-
Pot meet kettle. If you think it's too b****y, then why b**** about it being too b****y? Not trying to be an ass, but its a genuine question I have. It's not ganging up on people -- it can be a LOT worse than this and I don't see too much wrong with it...there's a line that I don't see as being crossed. And don't worry da_bears, I never met Steff and haven't talked to her...ever so your conspiracy theory about the mods is not true.

That video was hilarious -- go Jon Stewart. I loved the crack about the journalistic integrity of the Daily Show -- with their lead in being muppets making crank phone calls.

I don't know if anybody is a Cake fan but I picked up "Pressure Chief" a few nights ago. It takes a couple listens but it grows on you if you like that kind of music. I didn't think it as solid as Comfort Eagle though (especially because there were only 11 songs and most were pretty short) But all in all a good album.

Cheating back doesn't do anything. If the other person cheated, they obviously don't give a damn about the relationship or the person they cheated on, so why would cheating back be anything substantive?

Who raised taxes more often in the Prez race?
LowerCaseRepublican replied to Rex Kickass's topic in SLaM
With the capital gains tax and the death tax removed, the middle class will shoulder a much greater tax burden over the next 10 years to make up for it. Thanks George. That's what I want -- more taxes to make up for your dumb ass. -
SS2K4, it's the [much] smaller scale same bulls***. Put the movie in the theaters, put it on VHS/DVD, have community viewings *gasp* at somebody's home but no need to throw it on TV or show it at polling places. Oh and FYI, the news is that the FCC will not step in against Sinclair.
-
Being a strong proponent of civil liberties, he has the right to say what he said. But really...what a f***ing dumbass thing to say. I'm with him about the racism/oppression etc. but what pisses me off is the people that just acquiesce with that instead of doing stuff to *gasp* change it.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Rum Diary...hell, anything by Hunter S. Thompson. Also, Larry Flynt's "Sex Lies and Politics" is quite awesome.
-
There's also a 22 page sexual harassment suit in which he discusses with his producer how he would sleep with her in a shower etc. (in person, not on the phone)
-
It's pretty good. Not the best, but still pretty solid.
-
Where was Lynne Cheney and her right wing shilling when Alan Keyes called her daughter a "selfish hedonist" among other things?
-
He got hit with the sexual harassment lawsuit. You can read it on the Smoking Gun.
