QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Tad doesn't need a day off, he had one on Thursday and will have one tomorrow. Please put our best players in there today Ozzie. Oh well, enought b****ing, let's go rough up Prior! It might be his obsession with the lefty/right matchups that Ozzie seems to adore. -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) qwerty, so far u've shown me ur another dillusional Cubs fan who knows nothing about baseball. First off, dictionaries can be your friend. It is delusional, not dillusional -- http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=delusional Secondly, I think that you need to cut out the insults, as lame as they are, before you find yourself on a little vacation. Thirdly, Garland's strong pitching performance comes, coincidentally, from a catcher who is forcing him to pitch inside. And as for players having a career year and then going back to their mediocre form -- look no further than say, Exhibit A: Adrian Beltre. If Garland can put this sort of pitching together for at least 2 years then he can avoid a lot of criticism. It is the same as the beginning of the year when Crede was hitting the s*** out of the ball and then went back to his normal Crediocre form. It has happened on this team this year -- players can fall back to their traditional previous form.

Torii Hunter givin up on central?

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 12:19 PM) Hey you can think what you want, so can Ozzie, and so can I. I think it was a dirty cheap shot by a classless, wannabe thug. Remember the Erstad-Estrada play at the plate from earlier in the year? That play was MUCH closer than the Hunter-Burke play, and most people thought Erstad unneccesarily hit him. As for the Sox having a "meltdown" last year, I'd like to see any offensive powerhouse team lose its two biggest bats and still make the playoffs. Even the past few years from 2003 on -- perhaps you remember when Twins players discussed how Everett said something during a game that came out afterwards along the lines of "Good luck in the playoffs because the Sox are rolling over and dying". I think the play was probably unnecessary but I'd love to have a player who was so hardnosed that he'd go all out to be safe at the plate like that instead of having, for example, Dumbass Caballo who would admire HR's that landed inside the park -- and he'd just get a single because of the lack of hustle. -

Even Ozzie admitted it was a hardnosed, clean play. If one of our players did it, we'd cheer our asses off. It was a hardnosed, hardplayed play. Oops! I forgot baseball is supposed to be sitting around reading poetry and eating celery sticks. Quit whining about the play. It was a clean shot. Unnecessary -- possibly but you don't have time to think when you're running at full speed in what could be a possible close play at the plate. He had his nose to the grindstone and did what he thought he needed to do to be safe at home. If we only had players like that last year instead of the consistent meltdowns. -

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 26, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) How was leguizamo in it if i may ask? I really like him because he is was of those actors that can play any role and succeed while doing so. His roles kinda remind me of johnny depps. I thought he did pretty well in the role he was cast in. He came across as pretty convincing.

I thought it was amazing. Then again, my friend and I are pretty apt for looking for the commentary that Romero is trying to make in his films. I thought it was a much better effort than his previous films (Monkey Shines and Bruiser) Everybody did a very solid job in their roles. If you know what to expect from Romero's previous zombie movies (Night, Dawn, Day) that it wasn't anything too new but it was nice to see what he could do effects wise with a budget and nice to see him re-establish himself in the film genre with a solid outing & making a statement like he has done with his other films (he's said numerous times that his movies on one level are an entertaining zombie flick and on another level, he tries to make a social commentary) And seeing Tom Savini in the film. While "Night" is my favorite of the Dead series, I'd say that this one ranks at #2 for me out of the 4. And the scene with the automated canary -- genius. Not to mention his commentary on religion.

I'm going to see George Romero's new film "Land of the Dead" tonight. It looks pretty solid but I'm really hoping that it isn't as bad as Bruiser -- cuz damn, that was just painful. Anybody else seen it? Interested in seeing it?

I'm really glad I'm drinking today cuz I don't think I could take this game while being totally sober especially with the Count's pitching performance. -

San Francisco was a total clusterf***. If you check any baggage, prepare to wait forever for it. O'Hare was fun -- easy to get to my gate. And this is an aside, being in airports in general. Waiting in line seeing people have to take out their ID -- people will wait until right til they get up to the TSA/security person to pull out their license. These are the same people with a month's worth of laundry change in their pockets wondering how they set off the metal detector. When I was flying home from San Francisco back to O'Hare, I swear there were some of the dumbest people I've ever met in line in front of me. I had 40 minutes to get on my plane -- I got there with about 5 minutes to spare before they stopped boarding. It took forever because people couldn't figure out that metal detectors detect metal and that when a TSA official asks you to take off your shoes, you're supposed to take off your shoes.
