I'm sure that the AL Yankees, er All Stars will do a fine job representing the AL. The 2005 Sox have been underestimated long since before the season began -- why are we suddenly expecting respect at the ASG? The ASG lost all significance for me when Giambi was made a starter with his .220 something batting average.

Didn't see a thread for it so I thought I'd post it. Here's to the best damn Riddler ever...Jim Carrey had nothing on Gorshin. RIP.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 18, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) And, yes, many thanks for correcting the typo Hurt. I'll sleep better knowing you're on the job. :rolly Jim, I expected better from you than not liking the cut of his jib by giving him a jab on his job. -
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Thank you. Remember to tip your wait staff, and I'll be here all week. Actually, what I am pointing out is that with the crucifix deal, when the religious folk freaked out, a whole bunch of liberals called them names, made fun of them, and said things like 'free speech', or'it's just a piece of plastic', etc. Now that supposedly a BOOK was flushed down a toilet, a whole bunch of zealots rioted, killed people and caused alot of damage. Over a book. And the same people who wondered why Christians were getting so worked up over the desecration of one of their religious symbols, are now getting themselves worked up over the alleged desecration of a BOOK. Did you have a problem with Piss Christ? I thought it was extremelt poor taste, in no way should be called art, and that if the guy got a government grant to produce that crap, he should have been forced to repay it, but otherwise, so what. The difference is that we're currently not at war with predominantly Christian nations. And I could make the argument that the Koran is part of the Abrahamic religions so your incessant whining about Christianity should continue with this f***ing up of the Koran since Judaism, Christianity and Islam all have a similar basis in historical foundations for their belief structures. The US military is trying to, to bring back an old phrase, "win the hearts and minds" of countries that are primarily Muslim. It isn't a good idea to mess with their fundamental belief structures from the start. Piss Christ was a pseudo-controversy here in the states. We're not at war with Christian nations so your complaint is a misnomer. Higher regard must be paid by the military because if they do partake in the lax bulls*** that resulted in Abu Ghraib etc., then they will be the ones with a much more difficult task on the front lines. And if we're talking about zealots doing crazy s*** over a book -- look no further than the US home-grown nutballs called "The Army of God". For those not in the know, they are a group that has facilitated the bombings of numerous clinics, sent fake anthrax to clinics and committed other acts of domestic terrorism -- yet jack and s*** has been done to them by the administration since it is politically advantageous for Delay, Bush, Bill "I'm a doctor and think tears can transmit HIV" Frist to pander to the pro-life right...since Robertson and the Christian fundamentalist whackos spin any cracking down in a legal sense as, to steal the Bork line, "slouching towards Gamorrah".

I was watching MSNBC with Olbermann and he was discussing an NYT article that discussed multiple hunger strikes at Gitmo regarding descecrating the Koran and there was even a public PA announcement on the base saying it would stop. Two unnamed interrogators from Gitmo verified the claims. I don't have a link to the story -- if somebody would oblige me, that would be wonderful...just saw it while I was watching TV here on vacation, haha.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) That logic bugs the s*** out of me. So what you are saying is that they can say anything, right or wrong, and not be responsible for what happens because of it? Theoretically, I could have "someone" tell me that you like to molest children in your spare time, then I could print it. Then your neighbors could read that report, organize a lynchmob, beat you to death because they think you will molest their children, and you wouldn't blame me for it? I didn't kill you, or tell your neighbors to kill you, so I would be OK, right? Damnit, Southsider, you stole the idea for my first column!

http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2005/05/..._option_primer/ Shouldn't we call it the 'nucular option'? After a brief ad to get in, this article is a pretty good piece on every detail one would want to know related to the current fight about the filibuster (and it tries not to take a stance one way or the other too often -- just gives details of what's happened in the past related to the filibuster and what the current plans are)

Found out they are running headshots and a brief bio on May 22 -- first column will be printed July 1.

I've just finished reading the whole article. "If the West went to war to stop Hitler from dominating Eastern and Central Europe, and Eastern and Central Europe ended up under a tyranny even more odious, as Bush implies, did Western civilization win the war?" He's got a point with that. FDR and Churchill did sell these people out to Stalin.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 12, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) I can't get onto the site, so I don't know the details of it works. One of the main clues that a guy is cheating on a drug test is the temperature of the urine. If you hand over a cup and it's not warm, almost hot, you're busted. How does this device heat the urine? It says it has organic heating pads to keep it at body temperature levels for up to 8 hours on the site. -
http://www.newshounds.us/2005/05/06/bizarr...e_rightwing.php See bolded portion. On May 5, anti-abortion extremist Neal Horsley was a guest on The Alan Colmes Show, a FOX News radio program. The topic was an interesting one - whether or not an internet service provider should allow Horsley to post the names of abortion doctors on his website. Horsley does that as a way of targeting them and one doctor has been killed. In the course of the interview, however, Colmes asked Horsley about his background, including a statement that he had admitted to engaging in homosexual and bestiality sex. At first, Horsley laughed and said, "Just because it's printed in the media, people jump to believe it." "Is it true?" Colmes asked. "Hey, Alan, if you want to accuse me of having sex when I was a fool, I did everything that crossed my mind that looked like I..." AC: "You had sex with animals?" NH: "Absolutely. I was a fool. When you grow up on a farm in Georgia, your first girlfriend is a mule." AC: "I'm not so sure that that is so." NH: "You didn't grow up on a farm in Georgia, did you?" AC: "Are you suggesting that everybody who grows up on a farm in Georgia has a mule as a girlfriend?" NH: It has historically been the case. You people are so far removed from the reality... Welcome to domestic life on the farm..." Colmes said he thought there were a lot of people in the audience who grew up on farms, are living on farms now, raising kids on farms and "and I don't think they are dating Elsie right now. You know what I'm saying?" Horsley said, "You experiment with anything that moves when you are growing up sexually. You're naive. You know better than that... If it's warm and it's damp and it vibrates you might in fact have sex with it."

They are a pretty conservative group by reputation. I personally think they are pretty badass and go after pretty much everybody. If they mention it is a conservative group going after Bush, then doesn't it look like a schism within the GOP? And as we both know most media analysts today are just too lazy to discuss the intricacies of such events so they're rather just play off the supposed label polar opposites (i.e. "Democrat Clinton" being gone after by "conservative Judicial Watch")

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ May 11, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) UH OH!!!! ...and Clinton gets impeached for lying about a cum stain & a few BJ's. I wonder where the blowhard pundits' sense of righteous moral indignation is at with these sort of misdirections and deception coming out of Washington currently.

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/s/krwashbureau/...intelligence_wa WASHINGTON - A highly classified British memo, leaked in the midst of Britain's just-concluded election campaign, indicates that President Bush decided to overthrow Iraqi President Saddam Hussein by summer 2002 and was determined to ensure that U.S. intelligence data supported his policy. The document, which summarizes a July 23, 2002, meeting of British Prime Minister Tony Blair with his top security advisers, reports on a visit to Washington by the head of Britain's MI-6 intelligence service. The visit took place while the Bush administration was still declaring to the American public that no decision had been made to go to war. "There was a perceptible shift in attitude. Military action was now seen as inevitable," the MI-6 chief said at the meeting, according to the memo. "Bush wanted to remove Saddam through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD," weapons of mass destruction. The memo said "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

Per Rotoworld: Onterrio Smith was detained last month at a Minneapolis airport after police found paraphernalia used to cirumvent drug tests. Smith was already a repeat offender in the league's substance abuse program. He was caught with dried urine along with a device called, ''The Original Whizzinator.'' A third ''strike'' against the league's policy would result in a possible yearlong suspension for Smith. A release is possible too. Stay tuned. This could be big fantasy news for Onterrio Smith and Mewelde Moore owners. May. 11 - 2:52 am et Source: Minneapolis Star-Tribune
