As an in game strategist, no, probably not. I don’t care to find the numbers, but I hate that he loves giving away outs. On the other hand there is no clubhouse drama like under ventura or ozzie. The manager position is way down the list when it comes to the White Sox biggest problems.

There is a reason so many teams hire first time managers and/or promote guys from within the system the last few years. Managers don’t really matter, at least not as in game strategists. Jose Abreu has an OPS+ of 107. That’s really good for a slick fielding middle infielder, but that is disastrous for a guy who is a defensive liability at 1B. As I said, I believe Abreu would get Avi kind of money on the open market. The fact that people here try to convince themselves that he is a great hitter is freaking hilarious
