AFAIK Yoan never reported to camp out of shape unlike some other players who don’t get the “lazy“ label slapped on to them.

He had a great year in 2019. He struggled in 2020, but this was such a small sample size even without the whole Covid-thing. He is on pace for another 6ish WAR season this year. Offense is down all around the league, he is 24% better than your average hitter coupled with elite defense at §B.

I‘d rather watch Moncada mail it in on a routine grounder from time to time than having to watch bad “gritty“ players.

Yoan makes everything look effortless (except popups) , especially on defense. But I never equated that with a lack of hustle. People gave Cano shit for dogging it all the time and he managed to have a HOF-caliber career if it hadn’t been for the whole PED thing.
