January 19, 20179 yr Djokovic upset in the 2nd round in Melbourne by a wild card qualifier from Uzbekistan. Biggest upset ever?
January 19, 20179 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 06:27 AM) Djokovic upset in the 2nd round in Melbourne by a wild card qualifier from Uzbekistan. Biggest upset ever? Wow I was watching that and couldn't stay up anymore. That's insane!
January 21, 20179 yr Author Nadal seriously picks his wedgie after every shot, you would think Nike could figure that out. This kid Zverev that he is playing seems like he could be the real deal in a few years, legit tennis player.
January 22, 20179 yr Author QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 22, 2017 -> 06:45 AM) And now Murray is gone. But I'm not mad about this one. And Vandeweghe beat Kerber. Mayhem in Melbourne. Setting up for Federer and Serena to take back their crowns
January 24, 20179 yr Chance for 3 American women in Semis. Not a fan of Vandeweghe but rooting for her.
January 24, 20179 yr Author First Australian semi for Venus in 14 years. Crazy how well she is still playing
January 25, 20179 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) Chance for 3 American women in Semis. Not a fan of Vandeweghe but rooting for her. This happened
January 25, 20179 yr Author Lucic is a great story but it really seemed like Pliskova got screwed over by that injury timeout. Up 4-3 in the third, she lost 12 of the next 13 without a single good shot it seemed. We keep hearing about Federer -Nadal, gives me the feeling that Wawrinka might get the win tonight.
January 25, 20179 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 08:12 AM) Someday there will be one US man in the semis. Maybe It's crazy how far away that seems after growing up in the 90s.
January 25, 20179 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 09:20 AM) It's crazy how far away that seems after growing up in the 90s. Exactly. Eisner winning a grand slam would be a nice story but don't see it happening.
January 25, 20179 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) Exactly. Eisner winning a grand slam would be a nice story but don't see it happening. Also Isner isn't exactly a joy to watch. I usually still just root for Donald Young and don't have many options outside that. Not that I root against Isner.
January 25, 20179 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Exactly. Eisner winning a grand slam would be a nice story but don't see it happening. Sock has a better chance that Isner at this point although I don't see Sock ever winning one either. The current class of youngsters for the USA are incredibly talented (Tiafoe, Fritz, Donaldson, Opelka, etc.) but who knows if any of them will become good enough to win a grand slam. This is probably the most promising group of players the USA has had since the Roddick and Blake were coming up.
January 26, 20179 yr Author It's awesome how much the Williams sisters are still genuinely excited about winning. Watching the 5th set between the Swiss guys, crowd is all Roger.
January 27, 20179 yr Author QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 07:46 AM) Best finals I could hope for. Gonna be so much fun Now we just have to somehow be awake at 2:30 AM the next two nights. I suck at watching sports on the DVR, I just can't help but find out who won.
January 28, 20179 yr It's cool that we have Nadal vs Federer again but when will the next group of players take over already. Tennis has been about 4 guys for so long and I'm including Murray before he even won his first major.
