A good trivia question from back in the day. I'm not sure if it's still true as I haven't researched it.

Who is the only player to drive himself in as many times as he drove others in while hitting 30 or more HRs? For example 30 HR and 60 RBI

First thought was kingman but closes he got was 36/82

I had to look to verify, but knew at least one of the answers.

Barry Bonds, 2003. 45 HR, 90 RBI

That is a newer one. I thought there may be a newer one.

This was a question from the 90's when I was working with the Brewers as he was playing for them.

I want to say Brooks Jacoby either did it, or was really close to doing it.

Rob Deer?

yep. He hit 32 HR with 64 RBI

This article made me think of the just pre-PED era. There were guys like Deer, Joe Carter who fit this mold. Going back further guys like Dave Kingman. Players who sold out on being a good hitter for hitting HRs.

Actually just read a book (Keith Law's Smart Baseball) that said

Bonds did this during his 73/137 season (and he kinda had to given that 137 is less than 73 *2).

I saw that one too when the previous answer was given. that's just crazy.
