Game Thread: Cubs @ Atlanta

this game is terrible, neither team should deserve to win.

both pitchers have looked pretty bad, and both offense's have looked worst.

Cubs had chance after chance to score, yet had to wait for an error and hit by Wood to do it.

And the Braves?  They are doing the one thing you can't do against Wood, that is swing.  70% of his strikes are balls, but thanks to the Braves offense, he's getting away with it.

I'm glad I'm no longer watching it.

typical NL baseball, which is why i don't watch either

I watched for some time, hoping one team or pitcher would do something productive.

sad thing is people will talk about Woods game as if he pitched a masterpiece, when he did anything but.

More on the SOX vs the AL worst.

If you look at the team splits, the SOX should have murdered them.

A 100 OPS adv vs TEX, a 200 OPS adv vs TAM, & a 200 OPS adv vs DET.

But if you look at the batter vs pitcher the stats tell a different story & I think it's this story KW needs to address the most.

Nate Cornejo (groundball, finesse), Gary Knotts (neutral, neutral), Steve Sparks (neutral, finesse)

Zambrano (neutral, power)

John Thompson (neutral, finesse), Jay Powell (groundball, power)

Non-flyball pitchers neutralize our power & our lack of team speed makes for easy outs.

We need more guys with success vs groundball pitchers on this team.

A 1 hitter thru 6in is pretty impressive. Braves just got their 2nd hit.

RALLY TIME!

Wood just got really lucky in the 7th. He is leaving his breaking ball up and it is staying flat. He just threw three of the flattest spinners I have ever seen, all for strikes against Castilla. Most times they hangers are deposited into the LF seats. Guess that is what having a 95-97 mph fastball does, gives you more margin for error on other pitches because they have to respect the cheese.

Braves just need to get something started here, they knocked the cubs up in the regular season, if they could only get their swagger at the plate back...

f*** it, lets just beat the s*** out of Fick.
