Moncada currently has a 0.7 WAR edge on Abreu. Rest of season projections on FG have them essentially as equal players going forward.

What do you guys think?

    I would guess Moncada because of a sizable defensive advantage.  I think Abreu will out OPS Moncada, but it won't be able to make up for the defensive chasm between the two.

    Wow!! What a difference a week makes. It wasn't that many games ago, that many were wondering if Moncada was a bust.

    And those people were ignoring positive trends and just being reactionary. It should be obvious to anyone who watches him that Moncada will be a high WAR player despite his high strikeout rate

    I agree with this, and I'll add that I think Abreu will be our ASG representative over Moncada.

    Moncada has the built in advantage of playing  premium defensive position and being a really fast runner. Not really fair to ask who will have the higher WAR.

    Exactly this. I would be stunned if Moncada doesn't have the higher WAR. I have never wavered on Yoan's talent, but I was skeptical on his average and still him, that said, over time, he's going to become just a total monster when you put it all together.  It's going to be fun.  If the pace of this rebuild gets sped up next year, I think he is going to be a huge reason why. Such a dynamic skill-set.
