2019 Minor League Outfields

Featured Replies

Figured I’d do one more of these for the outfield given our all our prospect depth in this area.  For this one, I also included some of the extended spring training guys because there will actually be some interesting prospects there.

Charlotte:

  • LF: Nicky Delmonico
  • CF: Charlie Tilson / Ryan Cordell*
  • RF: Brandon Guyer
  • 4th: Preston Tucker

Birmingham:

  • LF: Blake Rutherford
  • CF: Luis Gonzalez
  • RF: Micker Adolfo*
  • 4th: Joel Booker / Luis Basabe*

Winston-Salem:

  • LF: Craig Dedelow
  • CF: Luis Robert
  • RF: Tyler Frost
  • 4th: Ian Dawkins

Kannapolis:

  • LF: Alex Destino
  • CF: Steele Walker
  • RF: Logan Sowers
  • 4th: Romy Gonzalez / Travis Moniot

Great Falls:

  • LF: Bryan Connell
  • CF: Cabera Weaver
  • RF: Anderson Comas

AZL Sox:

  • LF: Josue Guerrero
  • CF: Luis Mieses
  • RF: Anthony Coronado

Looking at the prospects beyond the big six, it really seems like organizational filler at the full season levels.  The one guy somewhat interesting is Frost and he’s on the old side with some swing & miss issues.  At least the power looks legit and separates him from the rest of the pack IMO.

Also, it would be nice if three of the HS / LatAm guys in extended could force their way to Kannapolis next year.  Weaver and Comas both had nice seasons, Mieses, Guerrero, & Coronado not so much.  It’s really too bad we don’t have another rookie ball team, because the latter two guys didn’t play much at all last year.

CWS is an absolute stud of a poster that we are lucky to have at ST.

Looks to me like the four Charlotte outfielders mentioned in original post are blocking younger guys with real potential.

That AA OF is beastly. Also really excited about the rookie ball guys.

Those guys will be cleared out as the AA guys prove they’re ready for the next test.  Basabe already has 270 plate appearances under his belt at AA and will likely move up fairly quickly as long as he doesn’t struggle coming back from his injury.  Luis Gonzalez could force a promotion with a strong 1st half.  Hell, even Adolfo has a decent shot at AAA this year given this represents his second option year.  Having said all that, none of these guys (or Blake) are ready for AAA just yet.

The rookie league guys will be fun to follow.  I really hope Mieses takes a big step forward this year as it sounds like he has some exciting tools.

steel walker low a. I hope it's for 3 weeks or so.

Thanks for sharing Jimmy!

Pretty much as I expected outside of the Dawkins miss, which really isn’t much of a surprise.  Does this mean that Romy Gonzalez is starting the season in extended spring training then?  A bit surprised he didn’t make full season ball given he can play CF and hit reasonably well for Great Falls last year.

Romy Gonzalez is injured and behind schedule. I was told it is a hamstring and he should join Kannapolis thereafter.

Any idea when he will be back?
