Fangraphs board update (with 2019 draft guys)

Featured Replies

Vaughn now ranked 46th in the top 100, third behind Robert and madrigal in  the sox system.

Other draftees:

Rutschman 9

Witt 38

Bleday 45

Abrams 62

Greene 85

Pretty unusual that only 6 draft guys make the top 10 right away usually it is at least 8-9. Others will make it based on performance but so far it looks like a pretty weak draft. This year only had 7 50s at fangraphs last year it was more than 10.

I think this is college pitching rearing its head again as they are typically more advanced, in addition to fangraphs offseason shift in downgrading pitching in general.

I think we will see a decent amount of action from the 10-30 players but they need to prove it.

Any other Sox prospects in bottom of top 100?

nope, cease at 51 is the last sox guy.

Thanks for the heads up on this.

Just did a quick run through and a couple things stood out. 4 of the top 5 guys on the list are from the Dominician Republic. Also, Atlanta and Tampa have absolutely loaded farms. Each organization has double digit guys listed in the top 130. That is insane. San Diego isn't far behind either.

Robert was bumped to 27, but I don't think his tools were updated. Unless they think Madrigal has better game power than Robert.

Ha!  That would seem to be an indictment of their scouting prowess.

Pretty tough to justify anyone else at this point, given the injuries and/or underperformance after our top 5.

You can count darn near 10 guys ahead of Robert that should be behind him. Hayes, Trammel, brujan, lux, Bart, Sanchez, May, Ruiz, Whitley, maybe Pache

Yeah I imagine Robert will move up a lot more with different publications

Appears MLB Pipeline has moved Robert up to 15, Baseball America moved him to 35 (from 49).

Ruiz is quietly elite. Not a loud athlete and he doesn’t have loud tools but he has an amazing eye at the plate and amazing OBP skills and he doesn’t strike out.

It seems pipeline is always the most bullish on Sox prospects in general. Fangraphs the least, but they always seem to be the most different in general.

Fangraphs hasn't updated player grades, they just added the draftees. I'm pretty sure they will bump robert up in the midseason ranking especially if he can stay healthy.
