July 20, 20196 yr Harper has a statline of .260/.373/.479/.852 with 2.6 WAR/150 and 13.7 UZR/150 Machado has a statline of .271/.342/.512/.854 with 4.1 WAR/150 and 3.7 UZR/150 for 3B, and -5.8 UZR/150 Note BR ref is harsher then fangraphs on harpers defense which affects his war slightly. The point is has how either performed changed your thought process on the effort spent pursuing them? Or would you have rather explored other options?
July 20, 20196 yr The key to all of it is going to be Madrigal. Will he be good enough to justify moving Moncada off of 2nd. I doubt there's a GM in baseball who would trade Moncada for Machado. Harper's a big can of whatever.

It’s about having six above-average major league hitters (at least) out of 9.
July 24, 20196 yr With Moncada looking great at 3B, if Madrigal pans out at 2B, and if the Sox throw the money they didn’t spend on Machado at an ace like Cole, they can definitely make the non-signing of Machado look like a great move. But does anyone really think they will spend the money on Cole? Edited July 24, 20196 yr by Moan4Yoan

October 20, 20196 yr Sox are still looking for a left hand hitting, middle of the order right fielder. Would be nice to have Harper.
