October 15, 200322 yr Author look at all the other idiots trying to grab it also so they cant say they wouldnt have done it either.... studid FANS I see 2 fans in this pic that are trying to stay away from the ball, and one of the guys even looks like hes going to be sick.
October 15, 200322 yr In peru, they killed a defenseman for kicking a goal in his own net..... I have a feeling something like this might happen with a yuppie trying to catch a foul ball.

I think it was Colombia. Also because I think it allowed the US to beat them in the 94 World Cup. This kid certainly better keep a low profile for the next few years. They should bring out Jeffrey Mayer and interview him for kicks.
October 15, 200322 yr If the Cubbbs blow the NLCS, the idiot will be an instant celebrity and will probably be on the Today show before the end of the week.

October 15, 200322 yr Fox is already planning a reality show about the guy in the event the Cubs lose the NLCS. Rumor is that on the finale of the show a group of Cubs fans will drown him along with a goat in freezing water....
October 15, 200322 yr OK guys give me some perspective on this play. Was the ball going to hit on top of that wall or railing? I haven't seen the replay on TV but in the pictures it looks like Alous mitt was over that wall, if so that play is NOT fan interference, no matter if Alou could catch the ball or not. That is considered no mans land right there, and it is anybody's ball.

October 15, 200322 yr I saw the play and i think that Alou could have caught that ball... That is the whole point. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF ALOU CAN CATCH THE BALL. If the ball is over the top of that wall it is considered out of play and it is fair play for anyone. Was the ball over that wall, or was it in play?????
October 15, 200322 yr Hard to say where it was going to land. It looked the ball was headed for the seats at first but wind was pushing back towards the field. Had no one touched it, it looked like it was headed for that railing or maybe just inside the railing on the field. Very hard to say and really an umpire can only do his best to make that call as it is almost purely speculation where it would have landed.

Even it was out of play, knowing the situation the Cubs are in and when your own teams player has a chance to make a play, you get out of the way. I've seen it numerous times where fans back off and allow a player to make a catch over the wall.

I've seen it numerous times where fans back off and allow a player to make a catch over the wall. Oh don't get me wrong, that guy is an incredible dumbass. He should not have been reaching for that ball at all. I was just curious because no one seems to be mentioning the actual rule interpretation in that situation. Everyone keeps saying " Alou would have caught the ball", which is immaterial.
October 15, 200322 yr It would have been a highlight play with him (Moises) reaching over the wall and probably making the catch, *in the stands*. As long as the ball was in the stands, and it celarly was from the replay I saw, there is no fan interference.

October 15, 200322 yr What a bunch of pussy Cub fans blaming guy for entire loss, Gonzalez error, Farnsworth sucked, Prior wild pitches. Take some responsibilty yourselves :fthecubs and players and Baker

October 15, 200322 yr Oh man, I can't believe I feel this bad for a Cub fan in an incident involving the Cubs! It says his number has been disconnected. Sad thing is that it was probably one time friends harrassing him that caused him to disconnect. Or he was just smart and had it done before all the idiots started calling.
October 15, 200322 yr I actually heard the umpire interviewed this morning. He said that the ball was clearly in the stands and that the fans had a right to attempt to catch the ball. He said it was clear cut--and that he had no doubt the fan had the right to catch the ball. His take? The team SHOULD have just reacted as it normally does when a foul ball is hit into the stands and is not caught. You throw the next pitch and move on. He was very surprised at Alou's and Prior's over-reaction... [No, I didn't watch the game. I don't watch Cub games unless the Sox are wailing on them...] Forkit!
