Good news definitely albeit he still is at an increased risk, often a strain is a precursor for an ucl tear even with no detectable damage to the UCL.

It was the right move to be cautious but can't help but think what if.  

He has an injury.  It isn't a major injury now, but the easiest way to make it a major injury was for him to pitch through it.
