Trouble hitting vs RHP

Featured Replies

The Sox going 14-0 vs LH starters last year got a lot of publicity, and deservedly so, but the Sox only finished 10 games above .500, so they were sub-.500 vs RH starters.

I looked up the batting splits from last year, and the Sox had an OPS .138 lower vs LHP than RHP.

Only five Sox hitters had an OPS greater than .750 vs RHP last year. Yolmer is gone, Eloy is out for several months, Engel is out for a couple weeks. That leaves Abreu and Madrigal.

Two games so far this season against RH starters and only 3 runs scored in each game.

There are certainly guys who have the ability to hit righties better, but they've been failing to do so for a while now. Somebody needs to figure something out to get these guys going.

I know that rearranging a starting rotation during the season is very difficult, but I predict that if things don't start turning around soon, opponents are going to start getting creative to minimize their lefties' exposure to the Sox lineup.

The lineup isn’t bad against RHP, but losing Eloy really hurts there.  It really depends on which version of Jose & Moncada we get.  If those guys are closer to their 2020 & 2019 form respectively, we’ll still be pretty dangerous.  Collins or Yermin stepping up would definitely help though.

Luis Robert has to be better than 718 against RHP...Yoan Moncada went from 945 in 2019 to 703 last year.  That’s the most glaring shortcoming.

Grandal 813 to 744, etc.

Now 0-4 vs RHP.

Keller gave up 6 in 1 1/3rd against the Rangers and has a 40.50 ERA.

Something has to give, right?

Rainout and he gets skipped over...probably.

If keller owns us today than we should never see another LHP against us again if MLB knew what they were doing
