April 29, 20214 yr I think the only guy I saw live at Comiskey where the ball came off the bat faster was Jim Rice. Belle had a monster year and then we dodged a bullet by him opting out the rest of that contract.
April 29, 20214 yr Reading up more on Belle's career...I had completely forgotten that he had sent his Cleveland teammate Jason Grimsley to climb through a ceiling panel to replace the corked bat that was in the umpires room. Unless I am remembering wrong, they were playing the Sox when that happened.

April 29, 20214 yr I heard him in a interview credit a bellman or somebody recommending he choke up on the bat a half inch. I don’t recall all the details, but essentially said he got hot after that.
April 30, 20214 yr i didnt realize he retired at 34 years old. With another 4-5 seasons he would have had 500 home runs and 2200 hits or so.
