What are some people’s stance on spanking? I’d love to hear from you all.

Spank your monkey as often as necessary

I have been all over the place and enjoy nothing more than being stuck in my hometown.

  • There is something terrifying about that first car ride. I think it’s just that the mom just completed an arduous, taxing journey without a hitch and you just have to hit a pedal to go zoom and if you

Interesting advice that one of my students received from her grandma.

"Don't marry anyone from your hometown or you will be stuck their forever. Go see the world and find someone."

If they are at my school there is a good chance it's two college educated, professional, parents.

That doesn’t change what I said. Sounds like Grammy regrets not whoring it up even more than she did.

This is super-weird, dude.

Grandma probably had the means and opportunity to travel back in the 60s

idk, I married someone from my home town. We moved back when we were planning on having kids but never lived very far away. We live 10 minutes from either set of grandparents and my kids see their grandparents weekly (and even more when they were preschool aged). I've spent the last 20 years traveling all over with my wife. I live next to several hundred acres of restored prairie while being a relatively quick train ride from the best city in the world and two major international airports.

Lots of different paths in life can lead to good outcomes.

I agree totally.

I've come to believe that the happiest people I know have the most choices. Eliminating choices and creating obstacles isn't a path I would recommend for anyone.

People find inspiration everywhere, I found mine in an improv class. "Yes . . . and" is the building block of all improv. I try to say yes to all new opportunities (that my wife approves of) and explore it. I'm happiest when I'm learning new things and my wife shares that passion. I don't think it would matter where she was from.

My dad could be a mean MF but he never hit or spanked me or my sibs or my mom which was appreciated. He would yell a lot and basically instilled fear though. To each his/her own but spanking seems wrong to me. But that's just me. I don't hold it against any parent. I would guess it's pretty effective though.

I think in my next life I'd be one of those people that never left their hometown. I think that'd be a good choice for Life No. 2. Life No. 3 I'd be a carefree idiot who worked as a bartender til I was 40 then moved to Hawaii and owned a store that rents out surfboards and boogie boards. Being a responsible adult seems overrated.

At least you got out and explored the world.  There are some who never see anything and live in their collective bubbles.

Violence begets violence.  I grew up with parents who disciplined physically.  I now, would never do that to my kid.

Kind of proves that it doesn’t, no?

Either way, my earlier post was actually a joke in reference to a conversation happening in another Soxtalk thread.

My bad.  I haven't been on the soxtalk threads in a minute so I replied to a post of your from August in December.

I am an anomaly for sure.  I have been fortunate to develop the social and mental skills required to overcome a nature environment.

My kid is 3 now, and man, the whirlwind has commeth...  Chill kid up 2.5, now is discovering his autonomy and running around like a nut.  Any tips of what you guys did to ground them?  I know the neurons are firing so we are trying to give him space.  That being said, there are just times were he goes off the deep in...

We had “forced” downtime where he had to play quietly in his room if he wasn’t going to nap. That seemed to calm him for a while.
