  • I hope the Sox give him that opportunity. They owe it to him. Heck, they owe it to themselves.

  • I have always wanted them to try. Fact is, he can't stand up to the reliever workload. Maybe piggyback starter with someone like Scholtens once every 5 days would allow him to pitch 80-100 innings. Th

God knows they'll need SP next season. Get the kid into a good throwing program this off season, stretch a bit in Spring Training, and start him in the minors for April and May to get him the length h

17 games they played in the season. Crochet pitched 3 innings of relief because he began the season with a sore shoulder. If Crochet was not hurt, explain a future MLB ace pitching only 3 innings of relief and only making 1 appearance in those 17 games, with 42 pitches.

Now work with me here Mr. Hahn, do you think the guy you just described is ready to face big league pitching?

I think he showed he was. He went to the alternate site and threw. But, in the playoff game, hurt again.

I think he showed he wasn’t anywhere near conditioned to be pitching in the playoffs. He lasted 6 innings. That’s what happens when you go from 0 to 100 with limited conditioning.

He was hurt, but got back just when the college season paused. So theoretically, he was healthy. Then he pitched at the alternate site without incident. He then was lights out for 6 innings, then got hurt in the playoffs. If the guy can't pitch 6 innings, again, how can he be a starter?

I agree. Let the kid try to fulfill a dream . It's not up to anyone but him to find his path.

He should get that chance. Maybe he could go to AAA for the rest of the year, work on a third pitch down there and try to stretch him out a bit as a starter down there. There's not alot of innings left but at least it's something.

By the time he's able to throw again this year the season will be nearly over. He got hurt again on his current rehab assignment if I'm interpreting the tweet and article combined correctly.

I have no idea how he was rehabbing. Was it preparing to return to the pen or just arm strengthening in general just to be able to pitch an inning or so every 5th day.

He seems very far away from doing very much next year. No one should think he'll be able to be much help to the Sox in 2024.

With some off season program to strengthen and condition without any setbacks he should get some starts next year at some level. If the setbacks keep piling up though he may have to realize his arm was not meant to pitch in any capacity.

Good luck Garrett !
