Sox should at least offer Montgomery a 2/50 opt out contract or something around a 3/60🤷‍♂️ just to give fans something to watch this season

Yeah and have another possible trade chip in the summer. They're going to need big league innings and there is value in that.

“Let me ask YOU a question.  Do you have a billion dollars for my new stadium?  No?  Well, I wouldn’t have paid Michael Jordan $60 million dollars, much less this Jordan Montgomery fellow!”

We know Jerry wouldn't do it but teams that are rebuilding and are going to be bad with a lower payroll should take that kind of gamble to have someone to potentially trade at the deadline/offer a QO to next offseason.

As of right now, they really don't have much to sell at the deadline. Banking on Fedde pitching well, Soroka staying healthy, and Flexen pitching like he did in in 2021 and 2022. They might be trade chips.

But opening day is already spoken for.

Jordan Montgomery is now intentionally waiting beyond Opening Day to avoid a QO hung around his neck next offseason. Tommy Pham may be the only other signed player among the five unsigned players listed below. Updates through reported signings through Thursday evening. I would like a Greinke signing if interested, he has historically stayed healthy and lately provided 137-171 innings per season (2021-2023).

With Josh Donaldson’s $25M contract plus potential $25M 2025 player option, these 24 remaining free agents are within 24 hours of Opening Day without a contract.
