Revenue was also counted differently between the leagues prior to 1993.

AL counted attendance as tickets sold.

NL counted people walking through the turnstile's day of the game.

IN 1993 MLB went to tickets sold for total attendance, which I thought was fair to the visiting team's cut.

It should be to maintain the government allowed monopoly. To protect the workers. To justify the many tax breaks they receive from local and state governments.

Well, when they come to the state, city, and county for handouts and tax breaks, I would certainly hope the municipalities would have a vested interest in seeing the books.

Then that would need to apply to all companies for tax breaks as that is a common lure for them.

That would really prevent businesses from coming here and make more leave.

Yeah, I don't think people realize how common these types of tax breaks and funding pools are for luring businesses to communities.  For all of the noise you hear about companies coming and going to places, it is always about money.  Whether it is tax breaks, labor pools, incentives, TIF etc, no one leaves because of politics or whatever, they leave for profit.  Don't believe me, spend a year watching your teams redevelopment group and get back to me.

I was on a committee associated with a developmental agency in South Texas. We were offering lots of incentives for companies to set up manufacturing in Mexico and the free trade zone. 

I was conflicted when the companies that had been there for a couple decades were hurt by the newcomers with the breaks. Some left for the incentives to keep a level playing field. Churning and churning. 

Austin and Texas put together a very nice package to get the Tesla plant. Tesla basically offered their employees travel expenses if any of the severe Texas laws interfered with their medical needs.
