Foulke would be a little expensive for what the Cubs need, IMO. They need middle relief, not a closer. That is unless they have lost faith in Borowski.

He would fill a definate need on the Cubs, but Foulke is likely staying in Oakland.

you gotta figure the Cubs will get either Foulke, Hawkins or Guardado.

 

They need another bullpen guy to make sure they protect those young starters.

I would like to see Keith Foulke in Chicago, but wearing a Sox uniform again.

I speculated about the Cubs signing Keith weeks ago. It just seemed like a damn good fit to me.

It's the Cubs. They won't pay anyone worth a s***. Why bother? They're set for the next 20 years. They made it to the NLCS, pissed it away as usual, and now all the lemmings can't wait to overpay to sit in the "Shrine" and watch Corky The Steroid Boy swing aimlessly at outside-corner breaking balls.

 

They won't do much in the offseason except raise ticket prices and sign some old relics on their last legs, or some broken-down reclamation projects coming off of serious injuries.

 

Once the Cubs, always the Cubs. "Almost a century of futility, and still counting!"

I think Mr. Hendry actually has other ideas this off season. I expect them to actually go for it.

They had a chance at AJ Pierzynski - and they wouldn't ante up. All they had to do was up the stakes just slightly, and they wouldn't do it. They have so much pitching in their minor league system it's a crime. But they wouldn't part with even another marginal prospect. So good for them. Losers.

Wood will blow out his elbow, Prior will be haunted by the unforgiveable failures of the NLCS, Clement will continue to be a .500 putz, Zambrano will hurt his overthrowing arm, and their offense sucked for the most part - and will be even worse next year.

I think they didn't trade for AJ cos they think they hav a realistic chance at gettin Ivan Rodriguez. But then again if Scott Boras is seelin his client to the Baltimore Orioles and the Marlins hav offered him a new improved contract, what chance do they hav?
