I look forward to you making excuses for the Sox either not spending all of their international allotment or trading it away for trash next year.

Aldrin Batista is a legit prospect. Maximo Martinez could be. No need to make excuses for great moves. More of that, please.

Those guys were outside the Top 30 and the Korean pitcher they really wanted is coming along nicely.

Deepest pitching staff ever has the seeming potential to be a jinx...

I'm glad he's gone. David Keller looks more aggressive than Paddy ever was. Total upgrade.

That said, if you include Tatis Jr., that's three players in the span of a decade with MVP's/Top Ten finishes.

Also finished Top 2-3 with Guerrero Jr. and Soto....hard to close deals with JR p referring you trade away bonus pool money.

Not many scouts have those 5 on their resume.

And he had the same spending handcuffs as those imposed by JR on Getz.

I think it's generally accepted that the Sox targeted the odd 21+ year old Cuban who defected, not 13 year old kids who would sign in 3 years. I don't believe they started out the year looking for takers for their international slots. They hung on to it in the event there was a showcase, then if they didn't use it, they'd trade the surplus.

Weird how Getz doesn't have the "don't sign 16-year-old Dominicans" handcuffs that Paddy did. You appear to be mourning Paddy, right now.

Odds of Keller winning a Scout of the Year award aren't exactly high at Bet365...

Higher failure rate in the intl scouting industry than Sox 2nd and 3rd round draft picks.

Only 8/31 guys receiving $1.5 million plus bonuses even make it to the majors.

Are we rooting for "scout of the year" awards? Is that even a thing? Can you post those odds?

Hahn mentioned his 2019 AL Executive of the Year about every other press conference...and that was a real scouting industry award that Paddy won, albeit it felt more like a Lifetime Achievement Golden Globe.

https://www.latimes.com/sports/dodgers/story/2025-01-17/roki-sasaki-dodgers-great-day-for-baseball-mlb

"James did indeed anchor a super team in Miami. In his four years with the Heat, the team made the NBA Finals every year and won two NBA championships.

That’s the goal, but that’s not our point here. Professional teams are in the entertainment business. Success in the entertainment business is simple: Give the people what they want."

Noted that Heat with James led the league in road attendance for four consecutive years he was there...

Balta counter???

"The Japanese trio of Ohtani, Yamamoto and Sasaki, along with Snell and Glasnow, could make the Dodgers' rotation one of the greatest in baseball history."

Arraez and Michael King in Mets/Pads megatrade engineered specifically to taunt Yankees' fans lol???

But all the dour-heads still mourn the exit of Marco Paddy. Strange how Getz is working to expand their reach, and everybody complains harder.

This post is such a tell. Please try to back it up at all that there were posters mourning the loss of Paddy.

SoxMachine from 2022 disagrees lol.

A day before Marco Paddy was named International Scout of the Year at the Winter Meetings, Baseball America indirectly showed why Paddy deserved such recognition.

BA released its 2023 preseason list of the top 10 White Sox prospects on Wednesday, and international signings make up more than half of it.

Here are those 10 White Sox prospects, with Paddy’s signings in bold:

  1. Colson Montgomery
  2. Oscar Colás (bust)
  3. Bryan Ramos (fading)
  4. Noah Schultz
  5. Sean Burke
  6. Cristian Mena (traded)
  7. Peyton Pallette
  8. Norge Vera (gone)
  9. José Rodríguez
  10. Lenyn Sosa (last chance)

This is a huge jump over previous years, when the White Sox were lucky to have two hand-signed, homegrown international prospects in their top 10.

Completely forgot about this dude.

On April 4, 2024, Jose Popeye Rodríguez was designated for assignment by Chicago.[11

On April 5, 2024, Rodríguez was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash consideration (yay for JR!!!).[12] In 38 games for the Double–A Reading Fightin Phils, he batted .265/.329/.422 with four home runs, 18 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. On June 4, Rodríguez was suspended for one year by MLB for violating the league's sports betting policy.
