March 10, 20251 yr With all these vets like Tauchman Slater Rojas Drury...maybe Gallo (hopefully not), getting more at-bats, you'd like to think NOT. Not to mention that guys like Vargas and Meidroth are known for their walks/OBP numbers. With the pitching staff...god knows, but that's where most of the talent (at least future talent) lies with this organization. For now, they're known as more of a high-contact, get outs in 2-3 pitches type of staff, so we shall see. Shane Smith and Thorpe should be two of the higher K guys, but Cannon/Martin/B.Wilson/Perez more pitch to contact. Maybe Martin's somewhere in between if his stuff keeps ticking up coming off surgery. Lots more work for Bannister/Katz.

Which is most likely to happen again in 2025? We should be much better at drawing walks this year. Vargas & Meidroth are both elite in this area. Tauchman, Slater, & Thaiss are all very good. Quero, Teel, & Colson will eventually help as well.
March 10, 20251 yr Most of the recent bats acquired and some of our notable prospects that are likely at some point get ML at-bats do have above average walk rates. It's possible the walk rate for our hitters may actually improve notably from last year.

Of course, but it is a sample of 15 baseball games. I'm more impressed by the low number of walks allowed. Because that's all levels across the game, starters, and AA-ball replacements.
