Well if its true and he's only gonna get roughly 5 mill...it may not be bad for the Sox to move Jose and then go after Kaz...of course it ain't likely.

The thing is, why would a team trade for Valentin at $5 mil a year, when they can just pay Matsui $5 mil a year?

Thats why theres Dan Evans

A Konerko and Valentin for Perez and Izturis deal, with a little fine tuning, would be excellent for both the White Sox and Dodgers. For the White Sox, we get a stud starter and a hell of a good SS/2B, and for the Dodgers, well, Dan Evans is finally fired.

Yeah but then who will KW pick on?

KW has done nothing to seperate himself from Evans.

I moved this thread to palehose talk because we have been talking about the Sox and Matsui in this thread - I really want to see the Sox go and sign some players from Asia - it is the new explosion of talent and marketing wise it only helps as well -

but someone is going to have to explain to me the Sox chances of getting Matsui or anyone because as much as I really, really want to read the article in SI, I cannot get past the cover. I mean, I see there is a Matsui article in there but I can't get past the cover...

thanks...

why haven't signed anyone on our major league level from Japan? Other teams have - and done quite well.

Let's stop all the "Pursue Kaz" crap. This Organization is a joke. When they hired Ozzie Guillen to manage there should have been a huge "REBUILD PART 2" sig, in red letters, under.....

Ozzie Guillen

New White Sox Manager: CAUTION! REBUILD PART 2

I hoped for the best when Ozzie was hired. But I think it is now painfully obvious that this s*** team will have the core of s*** players we had last season that STILL couldn't win a very winnable division all while going practically .500 with one of the worst teams in baseball..... OF ALL TIME!

Congrats to your Wolverines. It was a great win.

Now, even though the latest article says NOTHING about the White Sox being interested in Matsui, or anybody for that matter.

I pray so badly that the Sox are just keeping everything very very hush hush, and under the covers are really actually interested in Matsui, among other players.

I just hope.

Anyone read the article in the SI with Perry on the cover about Kaz Matsui? I was impressed with several things:

"...consecutive-games streak of 1,143 games...'Matsui plays hurt and doesn't know where the training table is,' says Ted Heid, director of Pacific Rim operations for the Mariners (the guy who's reports prompted the Mariners to sign Ichiro)."

Heid said "an extremly strong arm, outstanding range (comparable to Omar Vizquel), and as fast as a bullet train."..."Ichiro is the fastest player in the AL, says Matsui is even faster."

He sounds like a good guy, I would love to get him. He is well grounded, and can play baseball. He is a 'grinder' and would be a great pickup. Too bad we have no interest it seems.

I think most these Japanese players wanna play on the West Coast anyways for some reason. Either there or the Yanks. Sure the Sox seem to have the ability to free up a ton of salary for a great prospect in Kaz but we all know that is beyond wishful thinking.

does anyone else get the feeling that the powers that be read this message board to see what trades we all want/who we want to sign then avoid them at all costs?

You're assuming that the powers that be can actually READ. Quite frankly, I seriously doubt whether some of them could actually spell "fart" if you spotted them the "f," "r," and "t."
