It took him forever to get there.  And still, he only put up a career 7.7 bWAR.  Meanwhile, the Tigers got a Hall of Famer who put up 67.2 bWAR in his career.  None of the other prospects the Tigers gave up did anything.  Amazing trade for DD.

They just refuse to look at it that way.You're not allowed to say hey yea Getz shouldn't have been hired but he was and at least he's made some moves that an outside hire may have made. But the Sox were a dumpster fire way before Getz became GM and his other jobs too. The previous rebuild just never had much of a chance to succeed without players who developed into strong consistent professionals. All the fans here were constantly projecting Eloy to start having 40 HR seasons or were fooled by 2019 bouncy ball stats (Moncada) or sticky tack stats (Giolito) a cool SS (Anderson) or Vaughn's "generational talent" are embarrassed for having put their faith in these players and the FO and owner. The terrible record so soon after the collapse coincided with the collapse of Intl scouting, drafting and development, injuries , labor issues  and a worldwide pandemic all on top of an organizational house of cards is now thrust at the feet of Getz and in a years time he hasn't managed to make the Sox win like at all. Good hires, rebuilding things in intl scouting or R &D , getting new toys for development , improving the farm system, all these things pale in comparison to letting Jesse Chavez walk or trading Mena or God knows what else everyone seems to focus on. No one wants to hear it. They just want one neat little package of blame to belong to Getz and JR. Optimism and hope and searching for silver linings is for children.You must raise your spears against the evil that has transpired and led to this abomination . Not to get too personal, but you're a good writer.  Betcha do something along that line when you're trying to make a living.  Or you should.  Also, I agree with almost all of what you say.

I will give him credit for moderating his stance to a more neutral/PTAC-esque tone.

It was getting kind of boring having EVERYONE crushing JR, Getz, Hahn/KW, etc.

Of course, there's not that much money or fame taking the middle road of objectivity/unbiased writing these days.

Look at sports talk/radio.  

Those who shout the loudest and have the most controversial takes are usually the ones with the highest salaries.

I watched Jason Whitlock make a career out of this starting with the KC Star.

Otoh, I saw the consummate professional Joe Posnanski start his career with the Augusta Chronicle and he's one of the few "great" sports journalists still remaining IMO.

I really like Jeff Passan a lot too, when he doesn't get so involved in politics and Shawnee Mission School District debates, lol. He's a huge baseball fan, of course.

I'm with you on Whitlock (ugh) and most of your points.  I don't do sports talk since this site poisoned my mind about it.  Don't miss it a bit. Our poster?  I was thinking editor at a book publisher or broadcaster.  Or I just like his style.

I don't know if knowing the right usage of they're , their and there or two, to and too and also knowing it's would've,  could've, should've instead of would of , could of , should of, makes me a good writer.  I just try to look at the bigger picture. To me it's just hard to blame the puppets when someone is pulling THEIR strings.

It's not the nuts and bolts that make someone a good writer.  It's the way you phrase things.  Like you did above. Incidentally, could've, etc. is a contraction of could have, not could of.  But that's nuts and bolts, not phrasing.  Good luck to you and a happy future.

Back in 2018, Vasil looked like he could have been one of the first pitchers selected and had a chance to go among the top-10 picks. However, he got injured during his high school season and emailed teams before the draft that he would honor his commitment to Virginia.

 

Mike Vasil is a 6’5 right-hander with a four-pitch mix. He throws a four-seam fastball primarily that peaks at 98 mph, but sits in the 92-95 range. Vasil also mixes in a mid-80s slider that moves like a cutter, along with a 12-6 curveball and changeup that he uses against lefties.

As Vasil has progressed through the minors, holding velocity has been an issue. In September last season, Vasil averaged only 92.7 mph on his fastball, way below the 98 peak that evaluators saw out of college. While concerning at first glance, many are not worried about the dip, as the workload of a major league pitcher has been cited for the drop in velocity.
