Watching that Sox prospects video, Gets and company sure didn’t expect Colson to go to AAA and struggle

Twins' announcers were going on and on about how all they heard about last year was Colson Montgomery around the Sox media people.

Kanny gonna score a lotta runs this year. I am happy the team with all the prospects is winning. If Mogollon, Bonemer, and Wolkow have big years, Sox system will probably be top 3.

You realize that Colson at the rate he's going is going to be out of the Top 100 as well?   And more than just Keith Law's and one other...so you'd just be replacing one of those guys on the list, but they'd have to be Top 40-60 to make up for Colson's fall.

So that means you need for Grant Taylor to also settle into that range, because you're soon enough going to graduate Teel, Quero and Meidroth from the prospect/s list.

Top 10 pick will help...but nothing like the jump you get from a Top 1-3 guy in the draft.

Meidroth having a great game.

Rest of Knights not so much.

Justin Anderson continuing to do his usual late game pyrotecnics.

3-1 Norfolk late    one more at bat for Charlotte

Oscar Colas returned to strike out twice in two ab's.

Replaced Tauchman, who might be headed back to Chicago.

Norfolk reliever/closer throwing 99-100 mowing down everyone so far.

Well, so far #10 in this draft is barely different from #1. The same players are in the mix. The Sox are going to have a chance to get a good player there. Let's see how their scouting does.

Colson is out of the Top 100 no matter what. If he keeps striking out every time up, he's out. If he rights the ship, he'll be in Chicago and also off the list. Meidroth isn't a Top 100 guy now. So maybe Teel and/or Quero graduate. Bonemer and Wolkow have huge upside. I'd be shocked if Mogollon made the Top 100. But, if all goes well, you could see  Wolkow, Bonemer, B. Montgomery, and Taylor join Schultz, Smith and the 10th pick to get 7 guys in the Top 100. That's a pretty darned good system.

At least you don't have Zavala there as well...at any rate, we shall see how Wolkow and Bonemer fare in High A.

People won’t like this, but I swear the two most pleasant, easy to root for prospects over the last decade for me were/are Burger and Wolkow.

Well to this point Wolkow hasn't stopped hitting. Easy to root for a guy that just rakes.

Huh? They are not in High A. There is no need for either of them, especially Bonemer, to get to High A this year. They're both 19.

That's the real test, though...especially for "raw" high school athletes.

Once they pass that test, they're 60-65% of the way there...since AA players these days quite often get promoted quite quickly, like Brooks Baldwin last year.

If you want to rocket into the TOP 100 like Kristian Campbell, you're going to have to jump through multiple levels in one year.

Or COMPLETELY dominate A ball.
