May 18, 2025May 18 I really don’t think this team needs to acquire yet another 34 year old veteran that should have already retired.
May 18, 2025May 18 How many aged center fielders named "Taylor" do we need on our team? My vote is for zero. There are like 10 bad outfielders on this team that are probably better than both Palacios and Taylor (and Taylor) and still probably shouldn't be in the major leagues. I say we give Julks and his 1.000 OPS another shot before we go sign my dad off the waiver wire. Let's get Tauchman up here. Pass on Slater, frankly. None of these guys should be on the team next season, so maybe this isn't even worth discussing, but we notably have a plethora of really bad outfielders in the minors who might still be better than AARP cardholder Chris Taylor. Time to start imagining the Zavala/Summerhill/Montgomery outfield, Sox fans.
May 19, 2025May 19 Taylor 1.3, -0.5, -0.3 fWAR the last three years Still owed $13-14 million by the Dodgers for the remainder of his contract

Then JR won't supplement going into the 2026-27 offseason due to the high probability of a strike/labor impasse.

May 19, 2025May 19 Dodgers still owe him $13.4 million, including his $4 million buyout for 2026. That would make him the third "most expensive" player on the White Sox after Benintendi and Robert. And he's at last a big "name" to many, especially Dodgers' fans the last decade....would his presence on the White Sox draw more than Tim Elko Friends and Family? Would he be more entertaining to watch strike out at even a faster clip than Taylor/Tauchman/Slater? Or would it simply conjure up more unresolved AJ Pollock feels, lol? In parts of 10 seasons with the Dodgers, Taylor hit .250/.330/.431 with a 107 wRC+, 108 home runs, 14 doubles, and 81 stolen bases. He started over 100 games in left field, center field, shortstop, and second base, and also started 50 games at third base during his time in Los Angeles. So the Sox already have Baldwin, Maton, Tristan Gray, Andre Lipcius, L.Sosa, Capra, Amaya...we could definitely use even MORE utility guys. Edited May 19, 2025May 19 by caulfield12
